JONESBORO, Ark. — Lance Kelley saved the day for the University of Louisiana.

While battling an Arkansas State receiver, the hometown sophomore safety made a game-saving tight-rope interception at ULL 24 with 2:52 left to stop Arkansas State’s rally and save the Ragin’ Cajuns’ 21-18 victory Saturday in a Sun Belt Conference game.

UL (5-4, 3-2) led 21-3 with 5:48 left after Chris Masson’s second touchdown of the day, a 2-yard run. Tyler Albrecht’s extra point added the final Cajuns points.

But the rest of the game belonged to the Red Wolves and redshirt freshman quarterback Ryan Aplin until Kelley, a sophomore from St. Thomas More High School, grabbed his first interception of the season.
