+1 Coach White already had co attached to his title. I think they will look for a secondary coach. Now the guy In DD won't. Have anything to scream at Coach Willis about! The games may become a little more enjoyable without that idiot yelling.

We slowly lost our entire staff in a year. No one thanked HUD for the opportunity?

Dude, through 4 years and 4 bowl wins, Hud has had incredibly stable coach retention. He fired Stewart (which was needed) and Edwards (we don't know the story). Saunders left for family reasons, Willis, Wallerstedt, and Rebowe left for promotions. So in his tenure we've had two firings, 3 promotions, and one neutral move on a staff of 11. That's 6 changes over 4 years out of a possible 44 (if you figure 11 possible changes a year over 4 years with our success). Does it suck that it hit in one offseason? Sure. But let's not pretend like we can't hold on to coaches and they're abandoning a sinking ship or making lateral moves.

On the flip side, we're going to have entirely new, VETERAN defensive staff with entirely new energy and scheme, coaching guys trying to earn spots from departed stalwarts like Ringo, Hamilton, and Trimm. I'm excited about our potential on that side of the ball.

Or it's called "looking for something when nothing is there." One left to be a head coach, one left to become a DC with higher pay, and the other left for the NFL. I know we like to think of UL as the mountain top, but those were all promotions. And like crazycajun pointed out, Willis could have left last year for double the money and half the responsibility. He ended up staying. He wouldn't have done that if Hud was a pill to work for and everybody was looking for the first lifeboat out.

Willis is now in the NFL. That would be a promotion. Wallerstadt is now a defensive coordintator instead of a linebacker coach. That would be a promotion. Rebowe is now a head coach. That would be a promotion. Our staff is getting better jobs which will attract better coaches as this is no longer a coaching graveyard. Those are the dots I connect.

3 left for better jobs/ promotions... Hud has fired exactly 2 guys in almost 5 years. For all those conspiracy theorists that think Saunders left for something else other than personal reasons... Where is he coaching now? We have had abnormal stability with coaches since Hud has been here given the success they have had. Several of them have stayed for less money and have had job offers else where.... But hey that surely sounds like he is a pain in the butt to work for. Some of you are rediculous

Its hard to get an experienced defense when you change leaders every year.
