The 15th Annual Fall World Series lasted only one day for Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns baseball team as the Blackouts swept a doubleheader from the Red team Sunday afternoon at M.L. "Tigue' Moore Field by scores of 5-3 and 4-2.
As a result of the sweep, the Black team captured the best-of-three series. With the series coming to a close, the Ragin' Cajuns are now finished with fall practice for the 2009-10 season.
Chad Keefer stole the spotlight at the plate for the Black team. He completed the doubleheader 5-for-8 which included two doubles and a triple.
Leading the Red team offense was Lance Marvel who went 4-for-7 with two RBI. Kyle Bostick and Alex Fuselier each picked up three hits.
Pitcher Randall Bulliard collected a save in both games. The junior from Lafayette tossed 2 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball. He induced two double plays and tallied three strikeouts in the bottom of the ninth in the nightcap.
Justin Robichaux (Black) bested Zach Osborne (Red) in the much anticipated game one matchup. Taylor Hubbell (Black) and T.J. Geith (Red) turned in quality starts in game two.
Joey Satriano was the top reliever as he held the Red team to only one hit over 3 2/3 innings pitched in the doubleheader.
Both squads played solid defense as only three errors were committed. The two teams combined to turn seven double plays.
