Yes, Walker will be in the 2010 class. As a grayshirt, he still has five years to play four seasons. Though he is expected to contribute immediately.
As per the ratings questions: rivals.com and scout.com have traditionally downgraded four- and three-star recruits after committing to non-AQ schools. Those ratings are merely projections based on current numbers (height, weight, speed) and rarely take into account intangibles.

I think we could have gotten Molbert to walk-on. Not to knock the kid because I have met him on occasions and I really like the guy as a person. He has some size for a high school player but I don't think he is big enough for DE or fast enough for LB to play D1. I would not have thought that any D1 school in the state would have offered and maybe the D1AA. That is why I think we could have got him to walk-on. I am not sure he is a guy that can make the program that much better and take us to the next level. When recruiting you should only offer players who are projected to be better than what we have now. I do not believe he will be better than Hall Davis or Tyrell Richardson and with these guys we can not get a pass rush and teams are running all over us.
I hope I do not offend anyone reading this board and I wish the best to Molbert and I hope he proves me wrong and has a great career playing for the Cajuns. Congrats to him and his family on receiving the scholarship!
There is no doubt the Rivals.com or Scout.com has a bias towards mid-majors when downgrading commitments; Grant Fleming was a perfect example of such a bias, caring a three star rating after attending football camp at LSU and having an all-state season, but was downgraded to a two star after committing to the Cajuns.
Those ratings do however take in more then just current numbers or intangibles of (height, weight, speed). Rivals and Scout hire ex-high school coaches, former college assistants and athletes to grade film and rank athletes at the summer combines and camps. Usually, these athletes begin attending these camps as juniors and their rankings begin from that year. Unfortunately, many athletes from the inner city or rural areas don’t have the funds or transportation, to attend the Nike/Rival Army combines or the Scout.com/ Fox Sports combines. These athletes are never evaluated, nor is there any film available on them. So you won’t find their profiles available, unless a local publisher like me creates one in the system. And if you contact any of their experts, they freely admit that their rankings are affected by which programs are recruiting them.
Clearly there is no way these people see or can fairly evaluate every high school prospect in the country. It’s more entertainment then anything else, but in many cases these ratings are a good indicator of the athlete’s athletic ability or potential. In my case, it’s always been about covering athletes that come in to the Cajun camps or take visits to the campus. I also enjoy creating profiles and writing articles on local athletes that are not in the system. I have had the most fun and found the most rewarding part of being involved with Scout has been helping those athletes that are not getting any attention.
Ratliff is a prop, he is enrolled in the university part time and is working on becoming eligible. Walker was ruled eligible before the Clearinghouse reviewed his test, but he never enrolled in school after the ruling on his ACT test score. So he is a grayshirt, like Odom. He will resign in Feb. and enroll in school full time this spring.
