Default Pioneers' Molbert commits to Cajuns

Notre Dame DE Jacob Molbert committed Friday morning to sign with the Cajuns, a source close to the football program told theadvertiser.com.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Molbert becomes UL's fourth commitment for its 2010 recruiting class, joining Florida tight end/H-back Amari Williams, Breaux Bridge cornerback Trevence Patt and Mamou tailback Robert Walker.

Molbert is projected to play defensive end or linebacker at the next level.

Good news! Coach Cook used to be the O. Coordinator for the Cajuns several years ago. Maybe the "local coaches turn kids the other way" attitude is shifting.

I love that we are getting more commits early on. 4 guys is a good start just halfway through the season.

As good talent as is produced at Breaux Bridge and Notre Dame, its good to see more of that talent committing to our program.

Like most of our commits since these sites have been in existence, he is a 1-2 star guy. They just dont evaluate everyone so they stick a star on him and go back to fawning over the 5 star guys.

I wasnt aware that we offered him, but that doesnt mean he's not a good prospect. Staff sees something in him. Now to just bring Stover and Welter with him...

Recruiting is off to a strong start. This time last year the Cajuns had one commit. Now the key is to add to it and sign them in February. (Walker will be on campus in January.)

We offered him this weekend, I mentioned him in the article on the visit for the FAU game.

" Others visiting the Cajuns for the second time this fall were OL Evan Fortier (Opelousas Catholic), TE/DE Michael Woods (Livonia High), LB Roland Huston (Redemptorist High), LB Hunter Stover (Notre Dame, Crowley) and DE/LB Jacob Molbert, LB Ryan Bruno (Catholic High,BR)."

Known for his hard-nosed and gritty play, Molbert earned all-district and All-Acadiana honors from the Daily Advertiser as a junior. He also runs the 200 and 400 at Notre Dame.

I would not put to much emphasis on the Rivals ratings. Many of our players were 2's and 3's but are playing to a 4-5 level in my humble opinion.
