This team is made up of a bunch of kids who have a shoot first mentality and refuse to defend. With the exception of Brian Williams, Steven Wronkowski, John Stove, and Bryce Washington, this team is very selfish. Shot selection is horrible and Shawn Long plays when he wants to along with a few others. Say what you want about Jessie Evan's teams, at times they were undisciplined but those guys played hard and they had heart. This current team is undisciplined, doesn't show any effort at times, and overall not very good. The stunt that Long and Register pulled in that postgame interview a few weeks ago showed me all I needed to know about this program, it revealed that there is not a whole lot of discipline by Marlin and his staff. I will give Marlin some credit, bringing in Stove, Washington, and Plaisance were solid, these are kids who played in solid high school programs and understand the team concept and are willing to do whatever to win. Marty, Robert, nor Jessie ever got in handed to them by 15 plus on national television at home. We are not talking about Western Kentucky or Middle Tennessee of the better Sun Belt days, today we lost to UT-Arlington two years removed from the Southland. Hoping for better days in the dome and hoping this team can get an attitude adjustment before the conference tourney. These are HIGH hopes by the way.

Well said. It's mind-boggling how hard it is for these guys to accomplish the intangibles of the game. Seems like almost all of them have an attitude, and not the good kind. Like I've said many times, attitude reflects leadership. Long is the best player on this team, so by default he is the leader, and the team follows in his foot steps. I said earlier in the year (and got crushed for it), this team can not lean on Shawn Long and expect to be a winner. I'm not saying I don't like Shawn, or don't want him on the team (without him, we're probably a 5-7 win team in total rebuilding mode), but I never bought into him as the focal point of a winning program. He was a hell of a Robin to Payton's Batman though.
