Robichaux said that Conrad could see action at second base — where Jace was a fixture for three years — third base or in the outfield.

“You’ll see him move around a little,” Robichaux said, “but we need that left-handed bat in our lineup.”

Because hardly anyone has secured a spot. He's going to move around like pretty much most of the players. It's going to take a while to piece together the best lineup. Versatile players are good

Not sure what you mean about the lefty comment. It's nice to mix up the lineup at the plate. Thurman, Clement, Girouard and Conrad are our only lefty bats (Gunner Leger/Ty Ewart if they play the field)

I agree versatile is good and robe likes platooning guys. You are inserting yourself into a different discussion. If all robe cared about was conrad's bat... He wouldn't care from which side he hit from. Some people have the thought with our recent hitting success robe will now lean towards hitters over fielders, I disagree. He won't change who he is after 2 years and his philosophy is still what made us as good as we were those 2 years.

From the get go, I've said Robe will never sacrifice defense with a liability in the field. What he will do though, is put a guy who isn't quite as good as another guy, if both are at least above average in the field if the 2nd guy's bat is better than the guy who may field better. That quote practically confirmed exactly what we've been saying. Just thought it was kinda funny.

All I was answering was a comment about why a new player to the program (albeit former player) hadnt secured a spot. Blake Trahan is pretty much the only player with a secured spot. If that was more of a tongue in cheek jab at Campo, I missed it

That whole argument about whether Robe values bats over defense is silly. The coaches will tinker with the lineup for a lot of the system. Finding the right chemistry and balance is tough with this many newcomers. The lineup is dynamic and will be determined day to day on more factors than just hitting vs fielding

You werent even the one who made the comment but you felt compelled to defend your boyfriend for whatever reason. I remember captain obvious bring up guys who couldn't hit against guys who could rake. Here you are being cpt obvious. Go read what I said, tony will take a plus glove over a plus bat. He will sacrifice a little bit of stick if you have plus defense. Some coaches will deal with lack of defense if you can hit, he won't if he has options. There are examples of guys who could hit who were average fielders that playeda lot because there were no better options. As you stated OBVIOUSLY If they are both average the guy who can hit will play. But you choose just to argue and try to change the discussion. A plus glove who hits .275 will play before and average glove at .300... That's what sacrificing some offense for defense means. Not comparing extremes.

It was a jab, and you missed all the jabs. You taking this up with the wrong person, that's why they call them managers because every situation is different. Tony is, always has been and always will be a pitching/ defensive minded coach. That doesn't mean he doesn't like guys who can hit. Some coaches are blinded by guys power and hitting and will overlook a lot in the field of you can hit. The fastest way to get in the dugout around here is kick the ball around or drop fly balls, he sticks with guys through hitting slumps almost to a fault.

You still want to say that some of us are promoting liabilities in the field, which was never the case. Also, please explain your statement about Robe not caring about what side of the plate conrad hits from. A left handed bat is more valuable than right handed in the college game. I don't get what you are trying to say.
