BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Playing in temperatures that dipped into the 40s, UL somehow found a way to continue its hot start in Sun Belt Conference play Saturday night.
Head coach Rickey Bustle, though, spoke with a disposition as chilly as the weather about his Ragin' Cajuns after escaping with a 30-22 win over lowly Western Kentucky at L.T. Smith Stadium.
The Ragin' Cajuns rallied from a first-quarter hole and led 30-14 with 10 minutes to go in their league road opener, but the normally disciplined team was flagged for a season-high nine penalties for 75 yards. Those mistakes and some defensive breakdowns allowed the Hilltoppers to stay in the game and created some tense moments for the UL faithful.
