Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team spent two hours Saturday morning with parents and children of the Acadiana area at the Leon Moncla Indoor Practice Facility as part of the 2009 Family Adventure Day sponsored by the Healing House.
Family Adventure Day is a day set aside for families to spend together doing unique activities throughout Lafayette that they cannot do any ordinary Saturday. This was the second year for the event. The Ragin' Cajuns Basketball team was a stop on last year's Adventure Day.
Families arrived at the basketball practice facility in the 10 o'clock hour and were able to watch the final portion of Louisiana's second practice of the 2009-10 season. At 11:00, the children were brought onto the basketball court and introduced to the members of the UL basketball team.
The children ran drills and interacted with the players from 11:00-1:00. There were dribbling drills, group contests and shooting contests.
Family Adventure Day is a fundraiser for the Healing House. The Healing House provides grief support for children age 4-17 that have experienced the death of a parent or sibling.
"We are so excited that the UL Basketball team participates in this event to help a local non-profit organization," said Healing House staff member Kim Thackston.
