I'm not. I want us to be a top ranked baseball program year in and year out and thought of around the country that way. We should aspire to that every year. To go from the #1 ranked team in the country to not even in the top 40 is puzzling. Yes, we lost a lot of players, but so did other schools and they remain perennial top programs. You can't get to that level by being in it one year and not the next. I know what matters is where we are at the end of the year, but having that ranking early has our name in the national spotlight week in and week out. We are trying to get a better conference affililation. The more recognition we have preseason, during the season, end of season, the better for us. A good pre-season ranking is good for our program. It will be great for football as well when we finally get to a point of being a pre-season Top 25 program. Pre-season recognition is something we should strive for and not readily dismiss, IMO.
