I sure do hope this is not going to end similar to what happened two years ago.
The people criticizing the coach for not playing Heyward Register more are not his family members. They are too smart to do such a thing on a message board. I like many were encouraged by his play in the 2nd half last night. It showed his capabilities. Now let's see if that type of performance can occur when the game is on the line. That is something we all hope to see.

I pray to god Register doesn't have the green light that Brad Boyd had. Man that guy took some awful shots.

But it was fun to watch him. I saw Brad at the last game I attended. Why doesn't he post anymore? He used to have a lot to say about Cajun MBB. I'd recognize his posts whether he admitted who he is or not. He hasn't posted for years.

Because the RP Mob ran him off. And told him that potential coaches don't post here. Remember?

He was fun to watch at times, but far more frustrating most of the time IMO. He did have some nice moments though.

I "love" it when someone comes on a message board and "writes a check" that a certain non professional athlete has to cash.

When a player can consistently deliver such as being boasted on this thread, then we'll call that player a sharpshooter. Don't pressure the kid. One game does not make a sharpshooter. What he may had done in high school does not necessarily translate to the next level. Smaller pond, bigger fish.

I agree with you MAT to a degree. I don't like seeing players, that more often than not, have a self imposed green light. Those are the ones that I call one minute eggs. They come in, jack up the ball at the first look they get and clunk. Back on the bench in a minute, playing for self and not team, and killing what a coach is trying to do. Tend to be streaky as grandma's drawers after bad gumbo.

Leave HR alone, he'll get his groove if it is meant to be.

I do remember that. You are exactly correct. I wonder if he's still in pursuit of coaching at UL?

You are right about his shot selection decisions... but he could drop the bomb from the far corner and explode the crowd. I wonder what his 3pt percentage was? The stats don't show how he often kicked the team and crowd into 5th gear.

He was a lightning rod, no doubt.
I think the last time we discussed it, he was a 37-38% shooter.

If I have a good 3 point shooter on a team, I'm testing him early. In other words, he without a doubt has the green light. I grant him that. I don't tell him to think about anything but being the sharpshooter. If he's cold, I adjust out. A good coach writes that blank check. Only a stupid coach fails to feed that ego. I feed all the egos and walk them back when necessary. The mission of a great coach is to create "team" with stud individuals. Personally, I hate too many "team speeches". I like individual studs working together. I don't like weaklings hiding behind "the team". Basketball is the perfect example.

It's about like a great band. I don't tell a guitar player to hide behind the bass. I don't tell the drummer to feed the vocals. I feed the living crap out of the ego of each one. I'm never afraid of a man's ego. It's so predictable, it isn't even funny. You feed them and you'll own them... as a coach. You build "team"... great teams... from fueling a mountain of egos... in concert.

Yes. Identify and glorify a 3 point sharpshooter... by name. The in and out game this year is our best bet down the stretch.

----The problem is when the reality of a true slump hits---Marlin continues the positive in his praising of the shooting ability of the real shooters of the team---He pointed out that he knows they shoot very well cause he sees it everyday in practice---I guess the next step was taken in the shuffling of the line up!!!
