Anyone think Luke got his feelings hurt?

Wow, go figure a condescending sports reporter form an out of town publication, that won't call us by our preferred athletic name is calling out college students for not respecting him enough ... lame. Go write a Dear Abby column about your feelings Luke!

To be fair to Luke, he has done a great job here as a beat writer. I like that he interacts with the fan base here and through online chats, etc.

Some other local sports media members didnt handle this as well IMO. For example

In this case press conferences are private events, 'no comment' is not newsworthy and thus should never see the light of day.

    "I'm thankful" is slightly newsworthy.

Claire Langlois? Yea that's a real journalist ... lol!

Oh yeah .. and Dave Schultz's show is unlistenable.

    What a choad!

T-nine you know we would scream to high heaven if the press ignored our team after games. It is private only in the sense that you and I are generally not invited to this function.

Our coach wants this attention. Long is fine. He should take it seriously if he wants to participate. We are way overdue on closing the book on this. Long did not take the presser seriously. Now he knows better for the future.

It is a newsworthy event only because Long made more than a post game interview.

    Not really - LOL!

What is the deal with all of the self loathing sports reporters here in Lafayette?

Geez, if you hate yourself, your job, and where you live so much .... then maybe it's time for a career change and a relocation.

Watched the press conference video. I would have also had a problem with the same response to multiple questions, especially from the star of the night with little time to waste on deadline after a late game. (Notice Luke didn't mention Long's responses until the 16th paragraph in his story.) It's quite telling to me that sources within the school's athletic department told ESPN 1420 such behavior was "unacceptable." Actions have consequences & his behavior has received criticism from several inside and outside the media. It also provided an unnecessary distraction after a blowout win.

If a student-athlete doesn't want to talk to the media & represent himself, his team/coaches/university in an appropriate manner at a press conference, simply decline the invitation & let someone else handle that privilege. The media, I'm sure, would be thankful.

Hey - Josh Parrott, sure you can't come back and cover the Cajuns ????

Your professionalism, knowledge, and enthusiasm for your work are definitely missed here in Lafayette.

Maybe you could offer consulting services to some of the "media" currently covering the Cajuns!
