Most of us were. And I didn't leave school with name recognition, zero debt, and possibly a built in brand.

Although I wasn't an athlete, I worked for the fball team for 4 years, worked an additional 20+ hours at another job outside of my requirement to attend all practices and games. Oh yeah, took 15 hours per semester too.

Poor athletes. They're the only ones work hard.

Quit blowing this out of proportion. Luke did nothing wrong. Actually he did and is doing things right. Shawn made a minor minor mistake. We are the problem here!

Came back and read this over this AM. Any consideration to Long realizing the night he had and was simply being humble? Humble plays very well in the NBA.

Anyone think Luke got his feelings hurt?

Wow, go figure a condescending sports reporter form an out of town publication, that won't call us by our preferred athletic name is calling out college students for not respecting him enough ... lame. Go write a Dear Abby column about your feelings Luke!

To be fair to Luke, he has done a great job here as a beat writer. I like that he interacts with the fan base here and through online chats, etc.

Some other local sports media members didnt handle this as well IMO. For example

In this case press conferences are private events, 'no comment' is not newsworthy and thus should never see the light of day.

    "I'm thankful" is slightly newsworthy.
