Yes, what Long did was incredibly frustrating for someone in my line of work, but I did my best to make sure I didn't just focus on the bad without the good.

As always, thanks for reading. I appreciate the feedback, y'all.

You called out an unpaid 20 year old athlete?

Who gives a ____ if he's paid or not? That has nothing to do with it, whatsoever.

It's your opinion that an unpaid athlete in college can be treated like Drew Bree's. That's fine. I don't share that opinion.

My opinion? He doesn't owe Luke crap.

Not paid? How much school related debt will he leave with compared to the avg student?

Treated like Drew Brees? Are you kidding? Shawn Long has to personally make the decision to avail himself to the media; no one forced him, no one has ever forced him. Drew is bound by a collective bargaining agreement that obligates him to speak to the media. Not even close to the same thing.

Long was trying to get attention, plain and simple. I'm so tired of people acting like if someone isn't "paid" to do something, they have no standard of behavior to uphold. Athletes are spoiled brats sometimes, period. You can blame backgrounds, journalists, EMOTIONS (barf), demanding schedules, not GETTING them, etc all you want. As was stated earlier, Shawn has a history of immaturity and a history of plenty else that people have kept behind the scenes (giving him the benefit of the doubt). This was a repeat performance. He needs to grow up. Luke did his job, the way he usually does, the right way.

I really wish everyone who brings this up could experience what a college athlete has to go through in school. I am not for paying student athletes, but you are very poor and struggle as a college athlete to make it. Lucky if you have money or food for the weekend.

Most of us were. And I didn't leave school with name recognition, zero debt, and possibly a built in brand.

Although I wasn't an athlete, I worked for the fball team for 4 years, worked an additional 20+ hours at another job outside of my requirement to attend all practices and games. Oh yeah, took 15 hours per semester too.

Poor athletes. They're the only ones work hard.

Quit blowing this out of proportion. Luke did nothing wrong. Actually he did and is doing things right. Shawn made a minor minor mistake. We are the problem here!

Came back and read this over this AM. Any consideration to Long realizing the night he had and was simply being humble? Humble plays very well in the NBA.
