Yes, what Long did was incredibly frustrating for someone in my line of work, but I did my best to make sure I didn't just focus on the bad without the good.

As always, thanks for reading. I appreciate the feedback, y'all.
I can understand that. We all have times at work where others don't cooperate and I, myself don't always react the way I should in those situations. We're all human.

You are an excellent writer and I will continue to read your work. I still think you could have written a fine piece minus one or two sentences. And its certainly not unreasonable for people to hold you to a higher standard than the student athletes you interview. After all, you are a professional and they are not...until cost of attendance kicks in lol

"Calling him out"????.... I think Luke just merely reported what happened.....it was brought up on every radio show and on the news.... Not just the adv. wtf you want? it to NOT get mentioned?? All GD day we heard this stunt on the radio.
If I were a writer, I would have called him out by saying he was being an immature lil bi!ch prima Donna wanting attention. .... The chuckle gave it away that he needs attention.

Doc, his job is to report. He is not a cheerleader for this university. We have that type of coverage already if you wish to read it. He handled it just a journalist should.

You do understand the chicken-egg principle right? 90% of radio gets its cue from newspaper.

On an unrelated note, just because you have an egg, it doesn't mean you have to hatch it.

He had fun with the media. They get to ask all kinds of stupid questions and expect meaningful answers. Shawn didn't give any easy material to work with so they crucified him for it. "Journalist" are the biggest bunch of complainers there are.

I have been critical of how harsh Jay is to callers in the past but that disgrace of a sports fan deserved to get reamed!
I was furious. Felt bad for RB.
There's always an idiot out there who has to take it to the next level. And his argument about "Shawn not owing anyone, anything", is TECHNICALLY true, but who lives like that? Miserable people. TECHNICALLY, I don't have to open doors for old ladies, or donate to charity, or volunteer for school functions.. But we do it because its the right thing to do. I hope that guy reads RP. People like that make our existence on this planet worse.

Well technically he overshadowed the great performance of his whole team that night. He owed them the respect to not do that. Instead of everyone talking about a 30 + point win, all they are talking about is him.

Based on Long's twitter response(s), he was just having fun and didn't mean it as disrespect. As long as it doesn't happen again, I have no problem with it. Jmo

Five pages about an unpaid athlete who didn't sit there long enough to satisfy a writer from an out of town paper that calls us by a name we've asked people not to use.

    I must be missing something.

    Btw...great game Thursday night, Shawn.

If thats the worse thing Long does while he is still a young man being put under a spotlight that most of us never experience, then I for one am more than willing to cut him some slack. People make mistakes. Young people make more mistakes.
