It doesn't HAVE to be at midnight!!!!
It can be in the morning. Lets says Saturday about 8:30 or so at the historic Earl K. Long Gym. Perhaps some "Mello Joy & Meche's in the Morning". A meet & greet with the Men's & Women's Basketball teams. I guess there are no mandates for this to happen. I think that the UL Athletic calendar is open for this weekend at that time slot
Great idea, plenty of time to make it happen.

I'll call the basketball office and see if I can get tickets.
UL and the basketball program is really missing out and making a mistake if they do not have midnight madness. I would purchase a ticket, buy beer, and it would create a stir that may sell a few season tickets!
There will be enough madness during the season. No reason to limit it to
midnight.
I don't know whether to laugh...or cry at the laughingstock our basketball program has become. Aw heck, it's Friday. i choose to laugh! WHAT? It's NOT Friday? Guess I'll cry then. I'm so conflicted!

The sad part is that the students want a Midnight Madness event but the basketball programs want nothing to do with it. Supposedly the University Programs Council (UPC) who sets up all the student events, tried getting one last year but were told NO.
It's a matter of passion level for your own program.
Passion ultimatly translates into wins and losses.

Saw this on another board. Listing for NCAA basketball budgets. We come in at ....(drum roll, please)......#269. Pretty much sums up the current basketball situation.

The only good news is that we are #60 in cost per win at ~$50K/win. A win costs Duke ~$500K.
