Ever wondered what would happen if there were more bowl slots than bowl-eligible teams?

These are the things I think about while driving a quarter of the way across a state (as I did this morning to catch my flight in Raleigh).

Hence a new weekly feature --- tracking just how close the bowl system (all 34 games, and 68 slots) will come to flirting with the disaster of not having enough teams to invite.

Last year, there were 72 eligible teams, with Bowling Green, Arkansas State, UL Lafayette and San Jose State left at home despite their six victories.
