Thread: Mixed Review

  1. Default Mixed Review

Sorting through the craziness of UL's 38-34 win over North Texas to open Sun Belt Conference play Saturday night at Cajun Field:

Head coach Rickey Bustle called the come-from-behind win "probably one of the uglier games that we've played."

    Boy, was he right.

Leading 24-10 late in the second quarter, the Ragin' Cajuns allowed 24 consecutive points over the next 16 minutes and faced a 10-point deficit after three periods.

Hey JP, I really like the callout you did referring to the lack of attendance. It is time that people are called out for their lack of direct support for this team and university. It's kind of like voting. If you don't vote because you're lazy, you don't really have the right to complain about a particular politician's views or platform. If you chose to not attend the game because you were watching the LSU game (which was thankfully a snoozer) or the UL game at home, you don't have the right complain about the coaching staff or play on the field. The largest crowd in LSU history found a way to make it out to Baton Rouge on saturday and we couldnt get 15-20,000 fans into our stadium? There is such a thing as DVR for those that wanted to catch both.

I'm going to echo that. It was complete bull____ that "fans" didn't show and its about damn time we own it.

We didn't tailgate. We literally arrived at the game about an hour before and the tailgating areas were quite full. I was impressed and expected a decent crowd. However, we all know what happened at gametime as many of our "faithful" decided they wanted to go watch LSU rather than see us play.

I thought we had a good crowd when walking around tailgating before the game, then get in the stadium and it was dead.

A bunch of people missed a not so pretty but exciting game. Especially if they were watching the bore-fest of LSUBRA&M Tigers down the road.

Hey zephyr, I really like the double standard voting reference callout on Josh referring to the lack of attendance. Since he didn't have any articles before the game imploring fans to go he has no right to call out those who didn't go?

I'm not talking about Josh. He has hinted in many of his articles to get fans to go to the game. I have no problem with what he has written and do not feel that he had to write a story imploring those to go only so that he could have the right to complain. The voting standard was stated and directed to those who did not go because they wanted to watch the purple and gold but feel that they would want to complain about the play on the field or coaches.

Because obviously it's the advertisers fault that people didn't show up to this game? That is BS, place blame where it should be, squarely on the shoulders of "cajun" fans who wanted to watch the Florida/State or the ones who didn't want to possibly get wet. OR why not see it for what it is...until we win consistently our attendance will fluctuate greatly regardless of the weather or who state is playing that given week.

I am very sick of Cajun fans blaming everything but ourselves for the state of the program. Time to take some responsibility!

You must have missed the column leading up to the Kansas State game saying that fans have no excuses to not show up anymore.

Homecoming will be huge and should be presented that way. It is a must attend game for any part time cajun fan. I hope the advertiser implores fans to go.

First of all, were you in attendance?

Second, it is not JP's duty to tell "fans" to attend. If you are an alumnus of UL you have a duty to attend and support your Alma Mater, not some other University in or out of the state. That includes leaving your tailgating spot, and walking over to the stadium to sit, and cheer for our team.
