Home almost turned out to be anything but sweet for UL.
In their first home game in nearly a month, the Ragin' Cajuns rallied from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to slip past North Texas, 38-34, in their Sun Belt Conference opener on Saturday night.
Quarterback Chris Masson tossed a 4-yard touchdown pass to receiver Marlin Miller with 27 seconds left for the go-ahead points. That helped UL avoid a bittersweet ending in front of an announced crowd of 12,141 at Cajun Field.
"We were going into the fourth quarter down 10 points, and I called our guys together and told them 'If you just believe,'" said UL head coach Rickey Bustle, whose team needed a fourth-quarter rally last season to beat Arkansas State. "We were going to make some plays."
