I'm done with this site. Turbine, please cancel my account. I tried to be cool, but I can see that no matter what The Advertiser does or no matter what we say on here to defend decisions being made, certain people will never be happy. You know why? Because all they do is complain. Complain about the name (OMG did you see what ESPN called us last week?), complain about attendance, complain about the uniforms, complain about the helmets, complain about the schedule, complain about the athletic directors, complain about the tailgaters, complain about the Advertiser not covering UL enough.

It's that same negative attitude that has only 12,000 people showing up to the conference opener and 18,000 for a home game against a Big 12 team.

To the people on here that I have a ton of respect for, thanks for all the great laughs, insightful comments and information.

Look, I don't know who you are, but I assume you must be the sports editor at the Advertiser. I am not trying to antagonize you. I stated that I appreciate all the advertiser does. I just asked a few questions as to why there is not more priority in internet placement of UL over LSU and responded that you have no control over that. So be it. CarlBlake22 made the statement that Lafayette people could care less about UL sports given the number of people that show up for games on a consistent basis. You basically said the same thing. I don't disagree with that statement either. I simply asked the question, Why? I didn't say it was the Advertiser's fault. In fact, I said in another post that it was UL's fault for not developing tradition and building up athletics all these years under Dr. A. That is all changing under Dr. S. I want the Advertiser to continue doing all that it does, and now that you explained your limitations regarding your internet site, there is little more to discuss. That you would stop coming to this site over those comments doesn't make sense.

I agree that there are alot of complaints / concerns posted, and I think to an extent this is good b/c it shows that people care about this school and its athletic programs. I think with the complaints maybe we could bring about some more proposed solutions also.

What we need is a REVOLUTION!! A RAGIN CAJUN NATION REVOLUTION!!!!

express to local business's that you want to see more UL gear for sale, tell them you think it would be nice for them to have their windows painted or a flag flown outside supporting the CAJUNS, tell you neighbors and friends about how much fun you had at the game and tailgating - then invite them, hell give them a ride to the game. ETC., ETC.

    GEAUX CAJUNS!!!

This is a better post. Your last one just seemed to come across as blaming the Advertiser. Something to the effect of "That's how the Advertiser views UL." I think you have clarified your viewpoint with this new post.

Also, Bunch is not the Sports Editor. He's another writer/reporter though. If you know his first name, then his screen name makes more sense.

A newspaper is only a reflection of what the community cares about.

You know this quote is the biggest issue that I have about TDA.... Believe me there are scores more who give a $#@$ about the Cajuns than 12,000 and I resent your implication that that is so. If you had been here more than just the short time that Ganette runs its people in and out you would know that... UL is the economic life line of this city along with the O&G industry...

Having said that after years of inept performance on the field, 12,000 showed up in bad weather las Saturday.... and yep there is a large portion of the population that chose to stay home, stay dry, and watch the biggest college game to date... But again had you been here for awhile you would have found out that there used to be 40,000 Tigger Fans dressed as empty seats that used to go to their games when Curley Hallman and Di Nardo were coaching... Losing breads empty seats.... that should not change your role as the voice of this community....

TDA has a long history of supporting the RC's and those that wanted to follow the tiggers in depth would go to the Advocate... I think if you were honest you would get off your high horse and admit that what is REALLY happening here is that you are trying to move people away from The Advocate ....

I would love to know what Bobby B's circulation numbers look like in the last 3 or so years when this focus on LSU began and what the Advocate Acadiana's Edition looks like... i would venture to guess you have not gained very much market share and in fact with the redesign of the paper to save newsprint costs I would venture to guess your circ numbers are declining... I would suggest sir that you secure your base.... yes those of us that give a #$@% about UL.........

I've never seen you on here, but as a UL alum you come on here and bust our balls about UL. You remind me of a person who would disown his own sister for a chance to touch a ripe slut.

A graduate of our school and you get on this forum and talk DOWN to the rest of us? That's disgusting man... unbelievably disgusting. You have a dishonorable soul.

If we are to believe you that there are tons more that give a damn about UL sports, repeat, sports, then are you directly blaming the newspaper for low attendance. If you buy the paper all week, then its pretty obvious that the Advertiser does plenty to promote UL and the games. Just because they promote LSU sports doesnt make them any less of a good paper. If it were that there were more coverage to LSU than UL year round, then you'd have a point, but this is just simply not the case.

The person you are responding to is from here. He went to UL. He is not responsible for redesigning the Advertiser. Direct your anger towards the proper people.

Also, it seems like you are making a lot of assumptions on stuff that you are not directly involved in.

Again, we are whining about the newspaper that does a better job of covering its school than any other conference teams paper. There are always numerous articles year round. I am more than satisfied with the stuff written in the paper. Some may have qualms with the way it is placed online, but again, that is not up to the local writers.

Do whatever you have to do Bunch24. No, there's no reason I can think of why UL fans should have any complaints. I really don't. We have it made. Everyone is trying to help and we just complain.

You really need to talk to the Advertiser owners and tell them that porn is an even bigger seller than LSU. I'm serious. You wouldn't believe how well it sells... and once you start selling it... and "the little people complain" that they would rather read about other less spectacular stories in the immediate area that aren't so readily available elsewhere... you can stand behind a marketing survey on porn and justify it... I just know you can.

The one thing about you getting off of rg is that we won't have to hear you preach down to us stupid little people anymore. The love... I assure you... will be returned some day.

Wow, who do you know that would do that to his own sister? Buddy, I actually like UL and UL athletics. I love Louisiana culture, and especially, Lafayette. Sorry if your balls are busted by me calling it how I see it. It is sad to think of the potential that UL athletics and the city of Lafayette have, especially when you see an empty stadium on TV for the conference opener. I'm not bashing UL athletics, I'm saying the majority of the city of Lafayette doesn't care as much as UL likes to think. Quit trying to compete with the LSU fanbase. Not going to win that battle, not now. Not ever. Start thinking of ways to promote to the fans, people that actually care, the 12,000 or so that showed up Saturday.

    OK, lets all calm down.

This has long since gotten a little stupid.

Bunch24 has a right to defend his work because, well, you are criticizing his work/company he works for. I think most people had qualms with how UL was presented online (being listed after LSU articles). He and Parrott tried to reassure everyone that they have no control over the online format.

Both are guys that rep the program quite a bit in the paper and online.

There has been a lot of whining on this board for an extremely long time. This time, the attacks on the Advertiser are the flavor of the day. If you have to blame a newspaper for your low attendance, then its only because you've either run out of other things to blame or you haven't looked at all the blamable locations. Also, it would be extremely foolish to have zero LSU coverage in the paper. That's just reality. So what, just skip those articles. The main focus is and should always be UL though.

The dude wasnt preaching down to anyone. He was sticking up for his work and was probably a little frustrated.

This stuff is really petty. Its time to get over it.

How many UL articles are written on average daily throughout the year? What is a large enough amount to satisfy everyone? Please remember that these papers and the entire industry are feeling the brunt of the recession and some of these guys are stretched thin with multiple responsibilities.

Everyone, let's all get off of our high horses. The whining gets old. Its not that we dont have valid complaints, but its endless.

We all have a part to play in getting UL to where we want it to be. From the fans, to the administration, to alumni, to the local media. Everyone has some part to play and no one part is entirely blameless or responsible for that matter.

    --------

I will state this, I am of the "win and the others will follow" camp rather than the "newspaper isnt drawing enough bandwagon fans in" camp or the "administration never does enough" camp or any other camp.

Have a nice day and geaux Cajuns

Yeah, I'll get right on that ... right after you do the same with your employer. Give me a break.

It's comical that you complain about others "talking down" to you. I get that same sense from your condescending posts, which are quite frequent.
