Good game plan by Coach Dodge. I think the Cajuns prepared all week for the gunslinger and assumed that the NT running game would not be a factor. After all, we held Charles Scott, Keiland Williams, and Trindon Holliday in check. NT defense dared the Cajuns to throw, and the rhythm was off again. Proud of our guys for staying in the game and making the plays to win it. Not very smooth on offense at all. Sometimes a bye week is a double edged sword. Lucky to have this one. The good news is the Cajuns survived NT. What's just as exciting is that others will not. NT is getting better each week, and Dunbar adds another dimension.

we definately need to use McGuire more often in the often, he just looks way more confident than Masson does under the snap and looks like he is confident and "knows" he can move the football downfield. Masson likes to play it safe and check down way too much, passing short on 3rd and long is a bonehead wimpy move. Grow some balls and pass the ball down field to the open reciever or throw it out of bounds. throwing short won't get anything accomplished. Handing the ball up the middle with defenders covering Sails won't accomplish anything, faking the handoff when defense is pursuing the QB and holding onto the ball wont accomplish anything. Masson just looks a bit shellshocked from the LSU and Nebraska games. He doesnt look as confident as he did in the first 2 games.

If we want to win the sunbelt we cant play like this on offense, thats a FACT!

I doubt our coaches failed to gameplan for their running game. They begin their offense with the run and then go to the short passing game which is very similar to what we try to do. Dodge is not going to throw a lot downfield so they try to spread it around and let receivers get a few yards after the catch. Also, some fail to realize that UNT has some of the best running backs in the league. Montgomery didn't even play tonight and I've felt that he may be the best back in the league. Dunbar just adds another dimension. Dodge did a great job getting some cutback lanes for Dunbar to hit keeping our defense honest and we just couldn't shed the blocks from the line and our D-line could not get anything going all night. NT is by far the most improved team in the league but our offense has to be of concern as we just didn't get anything going. We are still seeing a lot of drops and Chris was off target quite a bit.

I disagree. Most of Masson's "poor throws" are in large part due to his receivers not helping him. What "open" receivers? They are unable to get any separation from any defender. That is the problem. Masson doesn't have open receivers to throw to. While I agree that the offense is very stagnant, I do not think it is Masson's fault. He has shown me a lot and has thrown some very good balls this year that have not been caught. You talk about one dimensional? McGuire did not attempt one pass last night and even when he was playing well, the coaches took him out for passing downs. I think you would want to see him play a lot more before I call for him to start. Also, last year's game featured the likes of Fenroy, Smith and Chery to assist Brad in his win for which he managed the game well but did little impress me any more than Masson has. I have no dog in the hunt whether Masson or McGuire starts is of little consequence to me and I just want the best one in. I just think that people are jumping the gun bigtime on calling for McGuire because he had a couple of decent runs last night. This offense went straight into run mode with him at the helm and didn't even look to pass and that will not fly once teams start gameplanning for it. I do not think the offense is necessarily any better with him at QB than with Masson and he seems to be more one dimensional than masson at this point.

Throwing the ball underneath when your receiver has not reached the first down marker is not necessarily Masson's fault if there are NO open receivers downfield. I think I'd rather him throw it short if that is the case and give his WR a chance to do something in the open field rather than throw it out of bounds giving you no shot at a converstion. To me, that is boneheaded.
