Former University of Louisiana men's basketball standout Brian Hamilton is currently participating in training camp with the NBA's New Jersey Nets.
Hamilton, a two-time All-Sun Belt Conference selection while with the Ragin' Cajuns, is in Nets camp for the second straight season.
He appeared in three minutes of the Nets' preseason opener with the New York Knicks on Sunday, Oct 4, grabbing one rebound and one steal.
Hamilton appeared in four games for Pure Foods of the Philippine Basketball Association in 2008-09. He averaged 13.8 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 3.0 steals and 1.0 block in 34.8 minutes per game while shooting .541 (20-37) from the floor and .556 (15-27) from the free throw line.
Undrafted in the 2005 NBA Draft, Hamilton appeared in 10 games for the Pennsylvania Valley Dogs of the USBL, averaging 15.7 points while shooting .538 from the field in 2005-06. During the 2007-08 campaign with the Utah Flash of the D-League, he averaged 10.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists while starting 34 of 49 games.
Hamilton spent the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons with Louisiana - his junior and senior seasons - after transferring from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
In each of his seasons with the Ragin' Cajuns he led the team in rebounds, steals and blocked shots. He finished his Cajuns career with 133 steals, the 10th most in school history.
