Ok Debbie, you apparently run with _____s who only do the coo things... During the win steak when we had 8k for a game against at Denver, they ran promotion after promotion with fear the beard, kids night, invited high schools got in free with jerseys. There are things they can do to promote the game without spending half a million. Give 1420 and 103.7 a couple hundred tickets for the personalities to give away which keeps them talking about it all day

And after that winning streak, how many came back? We were WINNING and they still didn't come back.

Well that was that 3 year stretch where we didn't, remember that whole start over thing?

I have no clue. Probably next to nothing, which may or may not be the right amount of money. I don't know, I didn't try to evaluate the ROI. But It sounds like some people here have a certain expectation of what UL should be spending on marketing and I was wondering what that number was.

Yea, I remember. But remember, we got them through the door with the advertising and they won in an exciting atmosphere...and poof, they left again. They were sold an exciting product and they didn't return. What return on the marketing did we get for that 'fear the beard' promotion and the discounted season tickets for not reaching the 10,000 attendance in that last home game.

Are you that negative and miserable in your everyday life or just when it comes to the Cajuns?

Rebel, I agree Lafayette is a very fickle place. But like Crazycajun pointed out, it isn't expensive nor is it time consuming to throw a radio station a couple hundred tickets to give away and talk about the game. People listen to the radio. Radio advertising does more for business than TV advertising and is much cheaper. You get a few people excited about this game, and what happens… they come back again. Sure these people aren't going to be loyal die hard fans like all of us on here, but they may make an occasional game or two. Or they may have a great time and come back for the next home game while it's exciting, fun and the Cajuns are winning. We averaged large crowds down the stretch when we were winning and had the fear the beard promotions. No, they didn't come back the following season, but they were there for the last 3 home games.

Marketing should never expect a one game payback and bean counters should never forget to tally residual effects.

Just wish students were in class, could use the extra support. They messed with Coach Hunter a bunch last year.

The average on the season should be about $20,000 per home game.

Annual marketing expenditures -for each sport- should equal the head coaches salary.

I am aware of the cash flow constraints, but if they were to find a way to pull this off, UL would triple its investment.
