For what it's worth, I "can confirm" Hud did VERBALLY agree to take the Tulane job. Weather or not he was just using it as leverage for for a raise to stay here, we may never know. Also, believe it or not, Scott handled most of the salary negotiations himself.

Edit: this was after year one of Hud being here if I'm not mistaken.

Farmer has full authority to negotiate the highest salary in the entire UL System?!?

    *sigh*

No, he like everyone else has a boss. I'm assuming these approvals were handed down chain of command style.

I would think it that scramble situation, it was pretty much get the most money committed you can. I doubt there was a whole lot of approval/chain of command.

So when Hud informed Farmer he was offered $1mill+, who came up with the counter offer?

As the story goes, Farmer countered with minimal offer and that's when HUD accepted Tulane job. So what your saying is T-Joe actually came up with the 1st counter and Farmwr just presented it?

I really have no clue how the system works, but I have a very hard time believing Farmer has authority to offer $1 million freaking dollars without T-Joe giving him the green or red light. Basically, I have a hard time being convinced that T-Joe had absolutely no clue what our counter offer was to Tulane's $1.2 million dollar offer. Think about it, the president NOT informed of the numbers??

I don't know. All I know is that there was a verbal agreement to go to Tulane and that Scott was more involved than people think. I don't know for sure who got what approved.

It's not Hud's fault Mullen can't do well enough to get hired by anyone...or do bad enough to get fired.
So T-Joe had to bail out our AD in yet another matter?

So exactly how many times has Farmer tried to run off successful UL coaches and forced Dr. Savoie step in to save the day?

Lotief is the first that comes to mind. He is arguably the best coach that UL has ever seen. Also, he is working for UL because of a true love for the program which is VERY rare in college athletics these days.

Farmer told Hud "Good Luck" after he turned a very down and out football program into a bowl championship team that breaks season ticket sales every year for four straight seasons. If Hud would have left after year one who know where this program might be right now.

It may not have been Farmer's fault about Coach Robe being told he was getting a new baseball park and then not having the finances to do it. However, very similar to the issue with the football coaches and bowl expenses this year it obviously was not handled the way the coach(es) felt it should have been.

So, Farmer has been AD for how many years and has already managed to upset or offend or runoff (however you want to describe it) Lotief, Robe, Hud, and this season's entire football coaching staff.

At least 3 on that list will no doubt geaux down as all-time most successful Cajun coaches of their respective sports.

Some of the above may be incorrect so please correct me where necessary. I am not sure if Farmer was AD during the baseball park fiasco.

    GEAUX CAJUNS!

So if Farmer handled all the negotiations himself...did he purposely leave Savoie out the loop until it was almost too late? I have zero faith in Farmer to pick the correct carpet for the Athletic Offices much less negotiate salaries.
