Thread: Defensive Assistant Coaching Situation

    Default Defensive Assistant Coaching Situation

As most expected, there is a shake up going on with the UL defensive assistant coaches after this season. Tim Edwards was fired with Tim Rebowe and Matt Wallerstedt moving on. James Willis is remaining as the Defensive Coordinator.

We just picked up Mike Lucas with a fairly impressive Division I resume. The article I read stated that he is expected to be a good recruiter. I hope that pans out.

I have two questions for the fans in the know... Who else is in the running as an assistant defensive coach? Does anyone know if these changes are being made by Hud or Willis?

There was only 1 change and it was by HUD. Changes will always be by HUD.

My only concern for next year is for The Prophet to bring us to the promise land!

Believe that of you want. Edwards was a HUD decision I'll give you that.

I don't think HUD made Nichols hire rebowe, I'm sure if he could have paid wallerstedt what he wanted or made him stay for less he would have... So I guess you can believe what you want.

Man, if that was my only "concern", then I would be OK too!

How will Haack play as a starter?
Who steps up in Juice and Ringo's spots?
How will Jamal look when he returns?
    Who will spell the Prophet?

The definition of insanity is to do the same thing and expect different results.. I cant understand Willis not getting the heave-ho. Expect the same results next year as the first 4 games this year....

I think Hud is smarter than that and has learned a good bit from this past season. With new assistants on board with new ideas, I think they won't be doing the same thing. Will it work? We'll have to wait and see, no defense is perfect. I'm fine with Willis getting this year to turn it around. Some coaches do improve and learn with experience. I don't know who was making the defensive calls against Nevada, but that was an amazing display of defense.
