Actually average rainfall in Eugene is 50.9" and Lafayette is 62.7". The difference is the PNW is spread out over time and we get ours over short burst. You will have mist and light rain in the PNW and torrential downpours in Louisiana. I have spent many of weeks out west with no rain what so ever.

I'm moving to a remote area about an hour west of Spokane, on the eastern (dry) side of the Cascades. 11 inches of rain a year, suckas!

Now, about the 16 inches of snow.....
