My challenge to you was to name schools that play FBS football that have had regular success in basketball. NONE of the schools you mention do so.

Wichita State is a school that dropped football and their basketball got better. But for the most part, schools that do so do not see a significant jump in their basketball program.

Louisville, Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, K State, any Big 10 school. There are tons that play quality football and basketball. It isn't one or the other, never has been. If a university athletic department wants to compete at a high level in both sports they can. Memphis is another one.

I give up. All I'm asking for is an apples to apples comparison. There are programs that are mid majors that can do both. But they are few and far between. And, none of those schools is in the bottom five of athletic budgets.

Given the constraints, Rick Freaking Pitino couldn't win here consistently.

When you got a coach bringing in the fans they need to retain more of the revenue. Granted right now, no disdain intended, we are having to overpay a guy who for whatever reason is not bringing in the butts.

I am not sure the community cares enough about basketball anymore to make it happen however. That is not just here, it is the situation most southern mid majors find themselves in, even if they are winning.

7-11 against FBS OOC games. You know how many wins came against teams that are in a higher rated conference than the Sun Belt? All 7, all 11 losses came against vastly more talented teams, minus La Tech.

If my numbers are right we are 29-5 in Sun Belt play in football that is an 82% winning percentage. If Bob Marlin won in the Sun Belt at an 82% clip he would have a 82-18 record in the Sun Belt and no one would complain about that.

Great point Jay - try to find a similar FBS member that wins at football, AND in basketball, AND has the same budget restrictions, AND state budgetary cuts, that exist.
