Thread: Should a coach be held responsible for losing a money game?

  1. Default Re: Should a coach be held responsible for losing a money game?

No the coach should not be blamed for losing a money game. At this time it is the nature of the beast. We need the money games to help us survive. If anyone has been around any of the players we have, they do not accept losing and the coaching staff does not accepted it either. We need the money game to survive and after we put together some winning seasons and a few bowl appearences a lot more people will come on board.

Right now, I feel a lot of the studet body are not coming to the games. When I was in school mid 70's the student section was packed and loud. I get mad at looking at the student section and not seeing support. and a lot of the fans will not come into the stadium if it is raining, if you support the Cajuns, then show up rain or shine

Don't get mad, get a solution...

    What will fix this?

I have two cousins that goto LSU.... They get in the student section when they can. Sometimes they have to actually get there early saturday morning to get student tickets.

Not that I would know about this, but...will the recent change in the opportunity to purchase beer at the games have an effect on the number of students that attend the games? I guess it will take several home games before one can tell if the attendance will increase because of this change.

I honestly can't see how. If people need alcohol to go to a game, then their priorities are already screwed up. Second, there is plenty of booze outside at tailgating available to them at any time in the game for which they are allowed to enter and exit freely. Last, you can always smuggle some in like myself It's not hard and it works well when I don't want beer especially come winter.

It may make a difference, guess we will see...

Bring on the party, bring on the wins :-)

I'll put it this way. If selling beer does improve our attendance, then people are going to the game for the wrong reasons.

If you read all the posts on this thread, you can see that there is a core group of followers who want to just stick with things as they are, and have been for a very long time now.
Then there is the growing fan base that says, this way in not working, a position that i have to agree with. I am not going to go in to all the positives
that a more winnable schedule would offer, I'll let you figure that out, besides,
when i do , my posts are deleated or altered.
I'll just say this, since the two blowout losses, we have lost an awfull lot of
momentum as far as fan interest. Yes, Conference play offers a fresh start,
and early success will help bring back the excitement. But if we keep ending
up with 500 seasons, we will Never , Ever generate the support we all want.
So, we keep doing it this way, or Try a Winning approach for a change.
    I vote for a Winner !

I had hoped that one day, things would change, but am afraid it isn't in the cards. I know we have one of the lowest budgets in the country, and that isn't going to change any time soon. I love this university, and will never stop hoping that things will get better, but I guess I need to come to the point that many of you obviously are. That is, that we are always going to be small-time. We have a small-time mentality that is not going to change.

I for one, am tired of being embarrassed. We were absolutely skull-drug tonight. Yeah, I know it was a money game, but who says that just because we get a nice paycheck out of these games, that we have to accept being slaughtered like we were tonight. Nebraska may turn out to be much better than their #25 ranking, but come on. We did not belong on the field with them tonight. I take no solace in "staying" within four touchdowns of lsu, or beating an awful KSU team that will probably not win a single game in the Big 12. I take no pride in "competing" for a sunbelt title once every 5-7 years.

For those who are content with being in the bottom 20 teams in the country every single year, please tell me how you do it. I'm not being facetious. I really want to know. _
Most factual post on here in a long time. I've said this forever. Been following this team since they were SLI. Got news for you it's never going to change with LSU 50 miles away and no money in our pockets.
