Should a coach be held responsible for losing a money game?

_ No offense but maybe you need to find a new way to place value on your education. I for one do not put any stock in the football team as weighing on the value of my degree. I would say your education here is something to be proud of no matter the W/L record of one of the athletic programs. Look at the great things this university does Academically, that is more a measure than this. _

I am not referring to the educational value here. I am referring to the pride in saying that I have something to do with the athletic program. It just sucks trying to separate the two for those who cannot make the distinction. Having a respectable program on the feild just makes it easier when referring to our university to those who are not from Louisiana. Not all of us stick around the state.

In NC, as you are, got to be tough. Today was hardly progress in that direction. We all painfully know.

You realize there are worse programs to affiliate yourself with right?

Personally I'd rather be affiliated with a 3-9 UL team than a 12-0 LSU team, on any level you want to go with it, as a fan or an alum.

the reason why we have such a talent gap is because we strive for mediocrity and successful players and big name players dont want to play for a team that expects mediocrity. They wanna play for teams who want to be the Best.

Yes its one step at a time, but if you honestly "think you can play with anyone" like Bustle quotes in an interview, then show some balls and back up what you say.

Yes its a money game but another reason why we get overlooked for bowl games is cause we cannot beat anyone credibly good enough to actually get any recognition. so we win sunbelt, and say we do it with a 7-5 record. We'll get over looked because the only teams we beat were sunbelt and mediocre teams. thats why we need to be 8-4 or better.

idk, yall can accept the .500 program we have, i dont like it. We need to do like Nelson Stokely did and actually have winning seasons again. I'm tired of mediocrity.

_ Troy got blasted by a more talented team. Florida skulldrug them. Worse than we got handled. They got a check just like we did. Programs like us have to accept these beatings with a half hearted grin cause yeah we got beat up but we got paid. You bring up Troy why, because they got on top of LSU, I remind you they lost that game. Just like we did against LSU. LSU is an underacheiving, overtalented, bloated hype machine. Dont use Troy as an example. They take checks for losses like we do. I have pride. You need a dose of reality, this isnt NCAA 10 on PS3. _

_ Guys, guys. These past two games were money games. We were underdogged by plus 20 in each game. Lets rewind to after the Kstate game. Because to me these two games are a necessary evil. Money games are a dirty part of NCAA sports but we have to deal with it. Money games usually end the way ours did. I think we did well against LSU, and I think Bustle kinda shelved the playbook and wanted to get to 000 on the clock against Nebraska without anyone really hurt. The real season begins on Oct. 10th. We need 5 more wins to be a bowl team. A healthy defense, and a well oiled offense I think we can get there. North Texas looks beatable. FIU looks beatable. We get FAU at home we can beat them. ULM is at home we can beat them. Troy is not who they were last year and we get em at home. Arkansas State and Middle Tennessee are pretty good but our D is good so I think we have a chance. 2-2 in Non conference is honestly better than a bunch of us thought we would be. So lets get our panties unbunched, and rally behing this team for North Texas. Stuff your worries about us losing to two ranked teams by alot in the trash. Sun Belt play is our season. _

I understand the reality of your statements about this being a money game, the talent we faced etc, but we looked terrible out there. Its not about who we played but how we played. Our defense is already getting banged up and our offense is far from a well oiled machine. Overall, our D has played very well but they are on the field to long and are gassed early in the third. The offense is killing itself with turnovers and failure to execute resulting in too many three and outs. The talent of the opposition doesn't have much to do with WR dropping passes that are hitting them in the hands. While some of the fumbles are the result of hard hits and efforts to strip the ball I find our players ball protection and the way they carry it much worse than the past few years (maybe losing Coach Jenkins is the reason for this?). I went into this game being a realist and while I wanted a win I knew that was going to be a tall order but I at least expected us to execute and compete. We did neither.

I hope the team can regroup with this off week, get healthy and get their heads back into the game and make a run in conference.

I agree. I will start judging Bustle and the status of the program with conference play. He gave us a great win versus a BCS school. If we can win the conference I say give him another contract. If not it is time to look else where.

I totally disagree...LSU fans cry about not winning by enough, while we UL fans are f-ing ____ed when we get 50+ hung on us.

The preseason is over!!
That's all these four games were. If you would have told me before the season that we'd be 2-2, I would have been very pleased. Nobody likes to get blown out. The coaches might have mailed this game in but believe me the players on the field were doing the best they could.
If I had to guess, the teams goals are to win a conference championship and go to a bowl game. If I'm not mistaken, we have an excellent shot at doing both. The real season starts Oct. 10th. Have your butts in the stadium and support your team!!
