As for the core of this thread... I agree with Jay's accounting of the NO Bowl for UL. But, if it in any way is a set up to support our SBC current membership... or a preparation for our failure to get into CUSA... I disagree with it. We are infinitely better off getting in CUSA, whether it decouples us from the NO Bowl or not. And our admin needs to pursue getting out of the SBC with an attitude of intense desperation... above all else athletically.
To those on this board much wiser than I:
What can we do as fans to make SOME impact on the administration to get off thier A**'s and pursue this CUSA membership like it is the last lifeboat on the Titanic?
    What EXACTLY can we do?
-E-mails / letters to the Pres? To Farmer?
-Does anyone in the AD even read these posts?
    -ANYTHING?

I'm not wiser than you. I think every way we can "touch" the admin has an impact. Having a direct conversation ranks highest. A letter, then an email are a distant second. This site is a collective message that gets delivered to them... but they don't like reading us directly. We're too raw and too severe in our messaging. Unfortunately, they can't tell us what they're doing. That lack of information makes our attitudes even worse. All that said, we still need to express ourselves in every way. They don't really have a huge reason, career-wise, to put a huge amount of effort into getting us into a better conference. We can only hope that the 10 or so people they listen to regularly, discuss the situation with them. Those people need to be educated on the subject. I'm worried that some of them are not very sharp on the reasons, and/or aren't very good communicators. But, it's our best bet... that the inside ring gets on board pushing Scott and T-Joe into specific intelligent activity that gets us into a more vibrant athletic member association... even if it's just a minimal improvement. The perception of improvement will do wonders for us.

But nothing could be further from the truth.

I completely disagree with this statement. If you are still in the SBC and are going to the NO Bowl when it is available, you are indeed stagnant. It means your program has not or can not attain anything greater then the New Orleans Bowl. By definition, that is stagnation. (To show no or slow growth).

The reality of the situation is, unless the Cajuns make it to a Big Six bowl game (Sugar, Fiesta, Rose, Peach, Cotton or Orange), there is no better bowl for the Cajuns to play in than the one played the weekend before Christmas in New Orleans.

Reality is, there is no in between bowl for the Cajuns that would be better.

The Sun Belt Conference has three bowl tie-ins: New Orleans, Mobile (GoDaddy) and Montgomery (Camellia). Those are your choices. Pick one.

And next year the Sun Belt will add the bowl game in Orlando. Great, I've driven to Orlando three times in my life, its no great drive. How much would it cost a family of four or more to fly to Orlando Florida this time of year? Outside of the bowl in Hawaii and the Bahamas, its just as bad and almost a costly.

All other bowls are contracted to other leagues. In other words, unless a league can't fill it's slots, bowls like the Liberty, Independence, Texas, Armed Forces and the like simply aren't available.

In most cases this is correct, but it wasn't until Oklahoma State upset Oklahoma and UL lost to App. State that the Armed Forces Bowl was completely out of the question for UL. And this will be the case most seasons. But there is no guarantee that the New Orleans Bowl will be available to UL in certain years unless they are the SBC champion. So there are no assurances that will be the case every season either. At that point, is the Go Daddy or Camellia Bowl more attractive then the Bowls in Houston or Dallas?

Again, let's go back to the original disagreement in the question of stagnation. Four straight seasons of 9-4 and bowl wins in New Orleans. Fantastic, beats the heck out of 40 years of mediocrity. But at some point going back to the same bowl without options will get old and if that is the best growth your program is showing after millions of dollars invested, it is indeed stagnation.

Ask Hawaii how it has worked out w/ the Hawaii bowl.

Although they did get to the Sugar Bowl in 2008.

All we can really hope for is to go undefeated or have one loss win the conference championship and get into one of the New Year 6 bowls which is a real possibility.

Ok, here it goes. It February of 2013, I sent a very critical email to Farmer. This was around the time of the master plan unveiling and the Lotief debacle. While I was very critical, I was also very respectful and professional. Within 15 minutes my phone was ringing. I spent the next hour discussing the future of UL athletics and found a respect for Scott that many of you will never have for him. I'm nobody special. I don't give any more than anyone else here. Yet, one email got me an hour long conversation with him. That makes me believe that many have not attempted to have that conversation. For that very reason I continue to believe that many don't want things to progress. They won't have anything to complain about then. Label me a sunshine pumper all you want. I took the extra step and was satisfied with the response and the direction we are going.

Conference negotiations happen behind closed doors, not on the front pages of newspapers. Just because we don't see headlines on the subject doesn't mean that UL's administration isn't doing everything it can do. I believe that they are, and that talking too much right now would be the worst thing that they could do. Have faith. If we don't get in CUSA at this time, it won't be for lack of effort.

I won't claim to be wiser, but I'm not sure the admin really cares to hear from us. If they did I would think the AD and Pres. would meet at least once per year with the RCAF membership much like the QB Club format to give a "State of the Program" presentation and take questions.
As for e-mails I and at least one other here can confirm that Liz Landry (or whatever her last name is now) screens all of T-Joe's e-mails so the unanswered questi is does he really see them all?

And from the reaction / comments of the admin and staff in the past, someone reads these posts.

Technically there is no opening in cusa right now. Even more reason for talks to be behind closed doors.

See my post above. Has it been requested? I'm sure if a group of rcaf donors wanted an annual meeting, it would happen. I got a one on one conversation by sending an email.
