I had a similar experience at Ole Miss. And again recently on a job site. Both, unprovoked, made comments about a couple of individuals (of which we speak regularly on this site) that left me cringing..
I keep my comments about the admin tamed, but ppl that "assume" CUSA talks will happen, or that these guys are "getting it" because of these recent results on the field.. Don't kid yourselves.. Keep up the heat
Such is the life of a public servant. But, I don't think you should attribute "hate" to the majority. I don't see the "hate of the couple". I see a few worthy demands made of them. Some folks get ugly about it. A few. Most make salient points.
But... you don't look in the mirror and notice a pimple... and then instantly say, "but all that other skin sure looks great.". You hate the pimple. You focus on the pimple. All else matters not until you take care of the pimple. We're talking about the pimple. Quit telling us how good the rest of the face looks. It gets aggravating as ____. We know about the rest of the face. It's awesome... "if it weren't for the politics". But that pimple needs to be addressed.
Ahh!!
But seriously, I've seen some optimism turn to pessimism from some guys I trust. I suppose it's to be expected with the history of our leadership and the lull of information.. But how many of us actually trust this admin to get us into CUSA? I mean, actually believe they will execute a plan..
I am not saying this to defend anyone. Remember that many people with big money tend to want to be recognized for their big money. People also complain exponentially more than they commend. We've talked about the johnny come lately making big contributions and may have snuck into the circle. If there are serious problems, they need to be addressed. Also consider the fact that some of these donors could have gotten their ego hurt, though.
TJoe and Farmer gave gotten kudos here when it has been warranted just as they get lambasted when warranted. Unfortunately there just seems to be more instances of their actions or lack of action warranting critisism. If they get us into a better conference I will not have any hesitation in giving them credit. And I don't believe anyone else here will hesitate either.
