Have been wanting to try JJ's Pizza on Albertson Parkway. Passed it many times, but will make a point to have lunch there.

La Pagua is very good. Probably one of the few places in town where you can watch "Deportes Telemundo" while eating lunch or dinner. Another good Mexican place is Aztecas in Ambassador Row. If you go into a Mexican restaurant, and all you see is Mexicans I guess that's a good thing.

The Bulldog is a bit obscure but it has been around forever. It's origin was the Bulldog Inn at the corner of General Mouton & McKinley. It got it's name from the then USL mascot the Bulldogs. I remember you would go to the window and order a pretty good burger, look up and see a photo of Nikita Khrushchev framed with a toilet seat. Anyhow, the current Bulldog makes a pretty good burger and they are open for Sunday and Monday night football.

Try the "Creole Lunch House" on 12th Street. Never been there but I understand it's good. While in that area you can also try "Burger Best" at 302 Carmel. Been around forever and on Wednesday or Thursday they have real pit BBQ. No parking, no seats no drive through, take out only. If you are into Boudin, try Guidroz on Simcoe, it's boudin with and attitude in a neighborhood with an attitude. Rated "A" from the Boudin Link guys.

Dwyers downtown is an institution. You can go in there for lunch and see a Federal Judge with his staff or a homeless guy. I've been going there for years. Before the renovation they had stools along the counter. You could see "plumbers butt" from a man and a woman at the same time. Debbie had them removed during the renovation. If you go through the lunch line and a black lady serves you tell her "Shake" sent you.

What can you say about Alesi's. It's been there since Johnston street was two lanes.

I understand Papa Mellos is good. It's across St Mary from Olde Tyme Grocery.

If you want to experience an old time hardware store go to Guidry's Hardware on Jefferson. A place, other than four corners, where you can buy one screw at a time (and you won't get arrested either). LOL. You can get just about anything you want and if they don't have it Andre' can order it for you. Big UL supporters too.

Citgo Gas Station (Athena's) on Kaliste Saloom in front of Quail Hollow. Better than Zeus, IMO.

Lil Daddy's at the corner of Pinhook and the Thruway. Great ribs.

Count me in with Two Sisters, La Pagua, and Poche's. Count me out with Judice Inn.

Shasta, when where you at UL (Sound maybe more like USL). Spent much time at the Dock. Montgomery at the time was empty.

Also for nostalgia, how about Louiviere's on Jefferson? $1 red beans, rice, and sausage.

I go to Judice Inn about once every couple months (sometimes more) and I love it.

Theirs is the only burger that I enjoy totally plain. I remove the onion and eat as is. I eat 2 actually bread-meat-bread.

If I have to add all kind of stuff to my burger is it really the burger I like?

I don't know why that is, everywhere else I go I add mustard catsup/ketchup mayo, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, some kind of sauce or dressing . . . but not at Judice Inn. There at least for me, the burger stands alone. Kind of unique.

Still the best Burger I have ever eaten was at Miss Beulah's in Abbeville.

I like the burgers at Baja Sports Grill and South Side Bakery, co-winners of separate best burger contests.

I would like to try the Burger Smith in River Ranch and there is a place on Jefferson with a blue awning I want to try but can't think of the name.

Oh I almost forgot I like Ground Patty Burgers a lot, with their longest running (almost continuous) "Go Cajuns" on their sign.

Burger Smith is real good. Quick service. The blue awning, you may be thinking of Frankie's.
