I like sitting at the gazebo they built last year on the corner of Taft and St. Mary. You do have the road right there by you, but the pond and fountain are right there, it's peaceful. They have electrical outlets, so you can plug your laptop in and do work. I can even get a wifi signal out there from Angelle Hall. There's also the gardens and fountains behind that on the Alumni Center grounds. They're peaceful as well.
Redfish Extravaganza @ Poor Boy's Riverside Inn.
They are also a supporter of UL if they still have the red dot program. It used to be buy one entree get one for the equivalent price for free.
Some of the best seafood dishes you will find in this town!
At least we have a good choice of burgers in this town. Morvant's is great, but so are Max's, Southside Bakery, Fat Pat's, Pete's, etc. Either location of Ground Patti is a frequent sit-down or takeout spot of mine. Haven't been to Judice in years, but not because I don't like them. Just never think about them. Will make it a point to visit them again.
Someone mentioned Nash's. Their Fish Beignet appetizer is incredible! Lightly fried amberjack bites served with a wonderful sauce.
Picante's steak nachos with pickled jalapenos and onions is also one of my favorites.
Alesi's has my favorite Veal Parm, hands down, but I need to try I Monelli's again.
I see that Lagneaux's on Ridge Rd. is open for lunch now. Its right near my house, but unfortunately, I work near the airport! I met Ron Howard there one night while taking out boiled crawfish. He was in line behind me at the register. Imagine that...
Face it, we're blessed in this town with so many options.
I will have to try an egg on my burger next time at Judice. But honestly, it sucks having so many great places to eat. Not only in Lafayette, but all throughout south Louisiana.

Haven't been to the Boiling Point in a few years. Reviews?
But enough about food. The Boiling Point is "sort" of close to the Zoo Of Acadiana. Haven't been there in a few years, but my daughter is only 14 months old, so she will be prime in a couple.
Then there's the Natural History Museum and Planetarium downtown. Been there a couple of times and is a first class facility, which also happens to be close to Agave's Restaurant. Reviews? Never been there, but I digress...
Anyway...
The LITE Center is a good visit on visitor Wednesday. Simply awesome to have such a world-class facility here. If you haven't been, do it. Even Disney is setting up shop there for its Secretariat production.
Acadian Village, Vermilionville, Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum, etc...
Too many to mention.
Adding a couple places for the Broussard area, Boudin at Billeaud's Grocery & JJ's Pizza on Albertson Parkway (just like Pizza Village on Moss).
Might check out Lake Martin a few miles out of town. Beautiful scenery, fishing & a large bird sanctuary (birds mostly in the spring). Also alligators.
Cypress Lake on the UL campus.
Acadiana park (walking trails, disc golf & a nature station).
Ice cream at Bordens on Johnston.
St. John's church, cemetary & the huge oak tree.
to name a few....
