Oh... and the great MLB pitchers are far from "Greek Gods". Some look like couch potatoes. I also don't think the nimble 2B and shortstops are very big on heavy weights. I asked a guy that I worked with that played in minor league ball, and was a big built guy, if the big guys took roids. He said, "Every "big guy" in the minors is taking roids. A little for power at the plate, and a lot for recovery and endurance through the haul of it. If you're in the minors, you do anything, absolutely anything, to beat out the competition and get your chance.".

---Perhaps I can shed some light on the subject---In my studies for my master's degree, in one physiology/kinesthetic course, we did studies on various characteristics of body testing--included was the effect of weightlifting and flexibility----Surprisingly the more weight training contributed to greater flexibility (yes I was surprised as I calculated in the performance lab the results)---And T-Bine I mentioned my discussion with the Mailman (Karl Malone) on his pumping before practice and even games ---possibly muscle mass had not effected muscle memory in that short period------But I think that strength allows more accuracy as the strain is more removed and just touch becomes more into play---I do think this is clearly shone in FT shooting!!! Good Morning Abbeville---get you warm clothes out!!! About 25 degrees come Wednesday!!!

Boomer, there's a vast difference in "weight training" and lifting heavy and bulking up. And, there are people that don't lose control over fast and slow twitch muscle in any weight training. Others lose complete control in bulk training. Some people don't have the physics (tendon/lig ties at the joints) to allow them to lift heavy in the first place. 5000 studies have been done in weight training and the myth that "weight training is bad..." was debunked. But, "heavy lifting" is not in that debunking.

--Well I think we will have to disagree as both create muscle mass as they are resistance type exercises---Been there and done that!!!

NFL athletes have access to the best kinesiology experts on the planet. And they clearly do not have QBs and RBs doing the same weight training. The argument isn't "weight training" and building muscle fiber. It is bulk power lifting. The Cheetah still outruns the Lion. And the Greyhound still outruns the Rottweiler. Muscle heads don't out finesse anyone... and never will.

At the game, at the start of the second half, this little boy sitting in front of me, says, "Daddy! Jake's got his helmet on! He's gonna play!". He was wearing a red ball cap walking around the sidelines in the first half. Damn, it was good seeing Jake get in there. He looked so confident. He threw an interception on his first throw as a collegiate QB. He came right back the next series and looked like a stud. We lost that game, but Jake was the starter for the rest of his career.

You just never know who will win the start, and what's going to happen. Every QB should work hard, be ready... you just never know when your number will get called.
Alum81 claims to be one of if not THE first fan at Cajun Field that night to start chanting for Coach Nelson to put in Jake that game.

I wasn't around yet to validate or discredite this story. However, I am pretty sure 1 or 2 of his posts on Ragin' Pagin includes "Free Haack!" I wouldn't mind if I could tell this story 20 years from now when the Cajun Nation is reminiscing about Haack's GREAT career and actually be able to validate it.

---And I refer you to my post and My conversations with the muscle freak Karl Malone!!! In our conversation we agreed that his finesse was actually increased due to his muscle bulk that he really got after his LTUR days---I specifically talked with him about his athleticism at Tech but his great improvement to which he credits weight lifting that---Caused him to bulk up!!!

I'm going out on a very shaky limb here...Brandon Harris. Stay with me here...Jennings was the starter and wasn't very good. Now it seems like Golson is looking to maybe transfer in as a grad transfer that would eligible immediately:

I know we recruited him...but word always was...he is bound for LSU. Could it? Maybe? Possibly? I dunno. Just conjecture right now.

Harris would have to sit out a year if he transfers.

The way I read it is that is only to an SEC school, he graduates in May. If he gets in to graduate school some where I am pretty sure he is eligible immediately.
