It might boil down to do you prefer s player like Brian Mitchell or jake Delhommne. Those two were exceptions of course. But they both were solid citizens. Nixon needs to grow up fast. Hack needs to prove the USA debacle was a one time thing.

The difference in what you are stating and this argument is that both Mitchell and Jake have completed their careers. So people will accept that statement.

But it is the very best comparison to use. Now who would y'all rather have as a QB? Jake or Mitchell. That is what we will get this Spring with Haack vs whoever.

Boomer… we get it. You have a love fest for Nixon. I don't think anyone (especially not I) thinks Nixon is a terrible human being for smoking pot and shouldn't be allowed to play QB because of his mistakes… I think people are saying you can't name him a starter, knowing that if he has the slightest screw up, he's off the team… and then what do you do? The position is too important to have a guy absolutely zero wiggle room named the starter. Now should we play him in other places he could contribute, but not decimate the entire offense if he just so happened to get in trouble again, like say, as a complement to McGuire at RB? Absolutely… just can't hand him the keys to the empire knowing he is walking on egg shells

Starting Brooks allows for Nixon to contribute at the same time.

Besides, I like having 2 guys in the backfield at the same time who can throw it.

If Hud had a QB battle between Brian and Jake in their prime he would start Mitchell based on his philosphy (which has proved to work) Nothing against Jake.

And if this is the case then Nixon or Davis has the advantage, period.

When life gives you 2 NFL talent level players on offense. You don't play one and sit the other if you don't have to. You play them both at the same time if you can.

Stokley recruited Brian away from several big schools that wanted him as a RB, by telling him he'd immediately start him as a QB. Immediately. He would not have come to USL as a RB. There's no comparison to any QB we have now and the situation with Brian. If anyone thinks Brian would have agreed to play RB at USL, behind Jake (a QB from Teurlings that only USL offered a scholarship) they'd be wrong. And if anyone thinks Jake would beat him out in spring practice, they'd be wrong. Jake came into his first game in the second half, as a freshman expected to redshirt, only after the 3 QBs ahead of him threw 5 interceptions in the first half.
