I'm not concerned with who replaces TB so much as who replaces Alonzo. That would be a prime slot for Nixon.

Wrong takeaway, every time Haack took over for a series Broadway came back with a vengeance.

Broadway watching a bit more would have helped UL this year and next.

If both freshman RB make it on campus, I'm confident 1 of them will. I wouldn't be upset at all if Nixon ending up there is the best situation.

Is anyone else as sick of dual threat QBs as I am? Sure, they're exciting and they typically do better quicker, but defenses always seem to figure them out eventually. Just look at Gauthier and Broadway. Gauthier came in during Hud's first year and played great. Then his senior year he regressed before he got hurt (which is another issue I have with dual threats...they are usually more injury prone). Broadway then came in for Gauthier and played amazing. He had a different style than Gauthier but they were both dual threat. Then the last two seasons Broadway has regressed as well. He just wasn't as effective as he was that first year. Maybe dual threat QBs tend to rely on their running too much so they never figure out how to read defenses and they never have to develop patience in the pocket. I dont know. But this always seems to be an issue and for once, I just want to see an offense-with all this talent-being run by a pocket passer.

My memory says Gautier was hurt his Jr year and was not given a real shot at retaining or regaining the starting role for his senior year.

    I may be wrong. ?

    Dual Threat last 4 years

    9-4 bowl win
    9-4 bowl win
    9-4 bowl win
    9-4 bowl win

May the best QB win and I'm sure he will...don't care if it's arm chair NFL style or dual threat College style. Get in there and get W's.

Hurt early senior year and came back in bowl game for a few plays... Junior year he beat SDSU and was MVP

Not doubting the Ws. But this season was the first time in a while that we started the same QB all season. And it just seems like our team would be that much more effective with someone who can throw downfield accurately and not panic at the first sign of pressure. Maybe we could even win some of those games we've lost. And when we've lost, QB play always seemed to be a the top of everyone's list. It's just my opinion. I'm very grateful for Gauthier and Broadway and what they've done for this program. I just think this team could take the next step with the right pocket passing QB.

He was hurt early his senior year. Before he got hurt, people were starting to get tired of watching him struggle and wanted to see what Broadway could do. He never looked that good his senior year. Granted, he didn't play much, but still..

He has played in 10 games where he tallied passing stats. Only 3 of those games did he throw more than 10 passes. In all 3 of those games, we left with an L. He absolutely didn't lose those games, but he didn't pull us through to a W. The one game he started, we got destroyed by South Al. Again, he didn't lose that game, but also didn't win it for us. He's made some great passes. He's made some easy passes. I recall one heave that Riles made a highlight catch on. When it's all said and done, he threw 6%/13% of the passes that Broadway threw in 2013/2014. That is a very small sample size in actual game experience. I really wish he would have gotten more mop up time this year.
I think you missed the point here. Haack put up the numbers he did in a system that wasn't designed for his skill set. The South AL game is not a fair assessment of his talent level for that exact reason, not to mention the weather was horrible and we put the ball on the ground a lot. If we had a scheme designed for him and an entire offseason to implement it, who's to say it won't work. I don't know who is going to be the starter next year, nor does anyone else, but I think Haack has the inside track.

Never said he wouldn't be the starter. Just said there needs to be a competition and I've seen nothing to say he will or will not run away with it.

    Thanks.

Somehow I knew my memory was off kilter.
