Thread: Louisiana's 2015 Quarterback Situation

UL Football Louisiana's 2015 Quarterback Situation

I hope that we have not seen next years QB in a game yet. Nothing against Haack and Nixon I just hope one of the Freshmen are just heads and shoulders better than the 2 of them. Historically the Cajuns have had their best years when the QB is above average and Haack and Nixon are average at best. I have heard the coaches are extremely high on Jordan Davis and he is our best dual threat QB on the roster. I hope he turns out to be special for 4 years.

I would not be surprised if the right opportunity comes around they sign a Ju Co QB as well.

Haack is average at best?? Then that means Broadway was below average because Haack is a way better passer than TB. Haack can read progressions, broadway struggled. So in theory we don't need to worry.

If Haack, then you would have to change your offense from zone read to more of a straight pocket passer type offense. Broadway's success was due to the fact that you had to respect his ability to run. His threat to run made Zo and Eli better. Defenses wouldn't have to respect Haacks running ability so they will be able to focus on just stopping the back.

I don't know that the coaches are wanting to change the scheme. HUD has always said he likes having an athletic dual QB.

Zone read is garbage. When u have a passer like Haack then you adjust the offense to fit his qualities. A strong/accurate passer with good receivers and good RB's is more of a threat then a QB who can run but cant pass too well.

I think our offense would thrive, even more so with a quarterback that can throw the ball down the field like haack. He's impressed me every time he's entered a game this season, and he can run if we need him to,not TB of course running the ball but can move.

........Last year and again I think this year Haack has lost his qb ranking to Nixon......I thought Haack looked good in the small times he played, but I have to go along with our coach's judgement on this........I watched other QBs play ahead of Gautier for years and never understood why....When the switch was finally made I know it was proven to Be the right one!!?,

Definitely agree gautier should have been starting his sophmore season! I do think Nixon is a good passer as well, but I'd love to see him fill Alonzo's role.

The mark of a good coaching staff is the ability to change your scheme to fit your best grouping of players. If Haack is the best option at QB (which I hope he is, and in my
Opinion should be at this point), Jay Johnson and Hud will have to adjust. I'd love to see the Cajuns run an old school traditional, pro style offense next year.

If Haack were to win the Starting job this Spring...emphasis on the word "if".....you would see something along the style of the Louisiana Tech Offense......

A good passer can soften the defense for the ground game. And we do have a ground game.
