We can't expect to pound the pill and wear teams down. And our staff would be stupid to expose Elijah to excessive pounding. We need a gifted passer. A guy that can see the field... and drop the ball in spots only the intended receiver can touch. It's beautiful when it happens. And I think our skill people are set up for it. I'd love to be realigning our playbook around McGuire, Robinson, Scott, Fuselier, Riles, Johnson, Barnes, and others battling for PT... for spreading the ball with flipping, dinking, dunking, slinging, gunning, and bombing. I think it should be Haack's job to lose.
My only concern would be the lack of development of this WR Corps in 2014. We had very high expectations, and lets face it, no one really stepped up after Jamal went down. I realize that they were under-utilized, but thats not ALL on the staff and TB. The lack of redzone opportunities sent Jarrett Johnson's way is mind boggling. It's literally a tip drill with this guy. Also, tight ends were wasted. We had (and have returning) quality TEs that can help soften the middle.. I digress

No one stepped up? Are you kidding me....

I will tell you the 2 that stepped up big time in the passing game were J-But and Eli. Butler had 11 catches in the first 7 games for 119 yards, in the last 6 games he had 27 catches for 351. yards. If he had been running those numbers all season he would have finished with 59 catches for 761 yards.

Eli had to be the biggest to fill in for Jamal. Just finishing as the #1 receiver on the team from the backfield.

-----Don't forget Fuse and Riles who caught more and pressured the flanks with their speed sweeps----Agree with Johnson's red zone fade ability but he does need to play the rest of the field!!

Having said that I am not pulling against or for any QB. If Haack is the next Brett Farve I will gladly eat crow. I just don't see it
I named 2 without doing any research. If i did I am sure I'd find more. Hell one of the guys I named only started for 2 years at an FCS school.

I'm not making a statement that Haack is going to be a pro but him not beating out an established starter does not say a damn thing about how talented he is.

Not at a mid-major, but arguably one of the top 3 QB's in the league was not a starter at Michigan.

Yep...and if it hadn't been for Drew Bledsoe's spleen rupturing...we would never have had to deal with Tom Brady.

Johnson on the field outside the redzone could be practically ignored by defenses. Couldn't tell you if he was open or not......so rarely thrown to. Same logic applied to Scott and other flankers opposite of Butler/Robinson. I often assumed he must be injured, so rarely thrown to when on field.

I agree with your point, but in terms of the debate, he was behind a 3rd round draft pick. Far from not beating out Broadway (I know a lot of you will love that). I eliminate P5 QBs and ones that sat behind other future NFL QBs from consideration because the development model noted earlier can be used in those instances.

  10. Default UL QB

Did Nixon stay in New Orleans??? Was he dressed as the OSU QB??? I think we are gonna see some of that stuff come the Fall--Looked like some of his runs in the past and it was the difference in the game tonight---QBs gots to have dem legs these days!!!
