Thread: Injuries

I'm not arguing that point. But it is inaccurate to say that the Cajuns suffered no injuries in non-conference play. Fenroy was less than 100 percent for two weeks, but more importantly Derrick Smith (ankle), Gerren Blount (sprained knee) and Caleb Rubin (collarbone) were hurt against Southern Miss. Smith was never the same for months.

You're right that it could have happened in any game. In a way we're just speaking different languages right now.

A pile of injuries might occur in any FBS football game, or not, regardless of the opponent. There are some special circumstances where certain teams actually have players that hit, tackle and block in ways that increase the likelihood of injury... to others... or themselves. Those players are on all teams in Division 1 football.

I was hoping to end the myth that injuries are more likely to the lower ranked program in football games with significant "ranking separations". A lower ranked team will lose more often, but they will not be injured more often in those games.

It must really suck to believe that myth, as a fan of a top 10 school, and come away from a game against a team ranked below 75, more injured than your opponent... after 793 significant collisions. It's a fun neanderthal moment... but this country could use something other than neanderthal moments right now.
