Thread: Meanwhile, in Natchitoches

Was anyone worried about UL losing to LTUR before it happened? I don't think so. Read the prediction thread. About one hundred responses predicting a win. I did see one that predicted UL to lose 31-21. Zeebart told him to crawl out from underneath the rock he's living under. So, next year let's see on the prediction thread leading up to the game how many people will be predicting UL to lose.

So what you're saying is that our next coach will see an improvement like Hud did in year one.

Not single games here and there. I'd like to know exactly what you are looking for in a Cajuns basketball team. That may make it easier for some of us to put it in perspective. We went 23-12 last year. We won 3 games in the conference tournament to make the dance. We played a respectable game against Creighton. Would you trade an appearance in the NCAA tourney to get back an early season loss to McNeese? Would you trade a conference championship to get back this loss to NwSt? Both of those goals are still ahead of us. We could be 0-11 right now and those goals are still attainable. I want postseason appearances. That may change when conference realignment comes around, but baseball and softball are the only sunbelt teams that will be able to make realistic national championship runs. A sunbelt team will never make the NCAA football playoff. A sunbelt team would have to have only 1 or 2 losses to get better than a 13 seed in the NCAA basketball tournament.

As for your mighty SBC comment. Way to go. Downplay the conference we play in. It makes it easier for you to ____ on our accomplishments when we win the championship which is exactly the point duggie is trying to make.
For my downplay of the SBC, I suggest you look at the power ranking of virtually every SBC team posted by Icitch. Could not be uglier, and we are among the lowest of the low.

The good news? Our talent is far better than our play so far.

    In three years.

I can't argue with those numbers.

So if we got rid of Marlin today, what do you all think would be the perception of this job opening in the coaching world? Has to rebuild after year 2, wins 20+ games and Ncaa bid in year 4, and canned 11 games into year 5 with 4 new starters in the lineup.

I don't give a ____ about how bad the conference is. My argument, and I'm pretty sure duggie's, is that it is beyond us that some fans will do anything to discredit what we do. We are in a ____ty conference. We get it. We are playing the hand we're dealt. Last years run was something fun and exciting. Not something to discredit. I want better basketball in a better conference just like you. I'm also not going to let some bumps in the road ruin my day.

Not many programs out there that could pull that termination off without some people scratching their head.

    Cajun4life & Cajun EXPRESS,

What do you guys think of Bob Marlin? Do you think he is the right man for the UL job?

I would just like for you to make your opinions a little more clear! LOL!!!!
