Thread: Pagin the Nation: Louisiana 16, Nevada 3

This sleazy plug Darrell Moody and his backhanded comments...

Louisiana-Lafayette won the New Orleans Bowl for the fourth straight time, which is a college football record. I feel sorry for the Cajuns. They never get the true bowl experience because they are playing in their own backyard. Nevada has now played in New Orleans, Hawaii and Idaho to name a few. At least the Pack has had a little bit of variety.

  2. Default A bayou beat-down: Wolf Pack falls 16-3 to Cajuns

NEW ORLEANS – Well, the cannon's blue again.

That's about all the Nevada football team can take from a once-promising season that ended under a rain-soaked dome Saturday with an offensive thud unseen since 2009 — but a season seen frequently in the last decade.

  4. Default New Orleans Bowl: Final Score Nevada: 3 Louisiana: 16

    Fourth quarter

A tackle for loss (four yards) by LB Bryan Lane Jr. leads to a 30-yard field goal by Stover, which gives UL its first two-score lead of the game at 13-3. The Wolf Pack finally moves the ball well, beginning with a 14-yard designed keeper by QB Cody Fajardo, but on fourth-and-10 from the UL 35, Fajardo's pass to Demps is broken up by CB Corey Trim. Louisiana stretches its lead to 16-3 with a 35-yard FG by Stover. With 3:48 to play, Nevada goes for it on fourth-and-7 from its own 42, but Fajardo's pass to Demps is incomplete. The Ragin' Cajuns miss a 36-yard field goal in the final minute, and the clock runs out on the Wolf Pack with a pair of sacks of Fajardo. LOUISIANA 16, NEVADA 3

All of 100 Nevada fans got to experience their bowl in New Orleans. I think the guy needs to reconsider Nevada's concept of "variety". In order to experience "variety"... you have to actually have the experience. I'll add one other thing to this nitwit's comment... 3 points is a "true bowl experience" we could do without.

This is a snippet from another of the articles run by the Nevada Appeal, and I think it provides a little perspective:

"The Ragin' Cajuns' streak of four consecutive appearances in the same bowl is the longest current such streak in the nation. Hawaii went to eight Pineapple Bowls in a row from 1940-41 and 1947-52. The game was not played from 1942 through 1946 because of World War II. BYU went to seven straight Holiday Bowls in San Diego from 1978-84, Texas went to six straight Cotton Bowls in Dallas from 1969-74 and BYU went to five straight Las Vegas Bowls (2005-09)."
