Louisiana Sweeps Home Cross Country Meet
Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's cross country teams made it a clean sweep Friday evening in the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational held at the UL Research Park, claiming the team and individual titles.
On the men's side it was Louisiana's Reese Lee finishing first in the 4 mile run with a time of 21:43.20. He edged out teammate Zachary France who came in second at 21:43.90.
Joining Lee and France in the Top 10 were Kail Kidd (8th - 22:25.70) and Chase Menard (9th - 22:31.20).
As a team, the Cajuns men were 20 points better than runner-up Xavier (New Orleans).
On the women's side, all of the Cajuns' runners who counted toward the team total of 20 points were Top 10 finishers. Ashley Faulk took the individual title in the 3 mile run with a time of 19:22.70. Runner-up went to UL's Katie Roland at 19:46.50.
Paula Parker, last year's team leader in all races, came in fourth after traversing the course in 20:07.90. Other Top 10 finishers were Callie Picou (6th - 20:27.60), Michon Meche (7th - 20:32.00), Torri Choate (8th - 21:04.80), April Colomb (9th - 21:35.70) and Jenna Picou (10th - 21:45.20).
As a team, the Cajuns women finished 35 points better than runner-up Southern (55 points).
The cross country program recorded a first in program history. The race marked the first time that Cajuns home meet was held on the main campus. UL Research Park is situated directly behind the Hilton Garden Inn on West Congress Street across from the CAJUNDOME.
