I have to disagree with you on one point. Stokely had teams that had they been in today's environment would have played in and won a few bowl games. Back then, there were just not so many bowls available as there are today.

I'm pretty certain you are younger then me, but I've been watching Cajun football since 1975 and have been a season ticket holder as an adult since 1989. There have been a number of talented athletes that have played in this program, yet this staff is the only one to bring in enough to win four bowl games and actually play in one. In your live time you had never seen a bowl team at UL until this staff hit campus and you are going to tell me how myself and others are over hyping recruiting? Take your head out your ___ son, because you have never seen enough talent at UL during any stretch of its history to get to and win four consecutive bowl games.

I won't pretend that this staff has been perfect or has not made mistakes. Every staff has done so since 1970 or you would see more bowl banners hanging around the UL campus today. The bottom line is you have witnessed the greatest stretch of football in the history of this university under Mark Hudspeth. I won't say it has been a stretch without flaws or its ups and downs, but when someone lectures me about the lack of talent in this program right now and doesn't have the history to fall back to put things in context, I tend to give their statements about what someone else is selling very little credibility.

So you are telling me that other then Troy a 5-6 SBC champion North Texas, Bad ULM and start up programs at FIU and FAU were better? Not until much later.
No they played but I'm not sure they passed the ACT.

Crawfish....that might be the case, but it's projection and something that can't be proven other then the number of bowls.I have no doubt that that stretch was the best in Stoke's tenure and the probably would have won the current Sun Belt. But there are also more football programs playing in the higher division today. Also Stokely had two co-championships in the Big West...He missed bowls both times. In my original statement, I stated the that this has been the best four year stretch in UL football history with four bowl wins. There has never been one bowl win in the modern football era at this program until Hud.

The investigation has shown otherwise. Man you are really butt hurt with Hudspeth somehow.

The kid is from Cecilia, you don't need to fly there. It's a 20 minute drive from Lafayette.
You shouldn't have to consider an offer for a month on a kid that good. That type of procrastination is probably the reason our secondary is atrocious.

But I bet it's cool when CLM choppers to Gonzales...

As you stated, some parents think because their kid isn't good enough to get any interest from LSU that UL should take them regardless of their level of talent. The same thing went on when Bustle was here, some local parents were ____ed because their son had offers from Central Arkansas and Delta State, but he should have been offered by UL in football. There is no doubt all coaches miss on recruits at times, but I never get upset at a staff if they decide not to offer a kid that has no FBS offers.
We had a child recruited instate by an SLC school in a minor sport. We, as a family, understood TOPS was in play from day one.

But some daddies get the crimson posterior from not being to claim junior earned an athletic scholarship. One of the things that just ____es me off is parents/adults that brag about some kid in high school being the second coming of Barry Sanders or whomever, and by doing so, is "writing a check the kid has to cash". We've seen daddies come and go from this site citing the greatness of their children and leave never to be heard from again after junior doesn't meet their expectations due to our "stupid" coaching staff, after already being flipped off by the Refineryville. Most of these kids end up at Brokeback U in football for example, who feeds off that emotion.

---And this is so true---add to that the coaches in the HS ranks that want you to take their kids that can't get P5 S-ships but want you to take them even if they aren't good enough to play at UL's level!!! When the great kids with heart start beating out your more talented kids you recruited---you are in trouble (big trouble) Certainly paradoxical but non the less true!!!
