    Sorta. It is called the 'Bear Bryant' rule. When the NCAA first put scholarship limits in football, the Bear would sign 10 or 15 studs and give them swimming or tennis or golf scholarships. The NCAA countered by putting in the rule we are talking about.

    Now that is awesome info. Now they need to change the rules regarding players whose parents "work" for the school and the student goes to school free (see Mario Chalmers and Danny Manning). By allowing Chalmers' dad to be the "director of basketball operations", it freed up an official basketball scholarship that could be given to another recruit.

    The deal with cheating. Is the severity of it and the standards and punishments rendered to different schools for violations!!! Douglas I think would agree after his research!!!

    I've never heard Chalmers wasn't a scholarship player.

    About a week after the NCAA championship game in 2008, there was a big stink about it. But since it is not technically against the rules, it blew right over... and his dad resigned as "Head of Basketball Operations" in August of 2008
