Thread: Brian Jenkins

  1. Default Re: Brian Jenkins

I am sorry I asked about Coach Jenkins.

I just noticed he got a new HC gig and this got out of hand.

Blake Anderson spent one year hear and went to Southern Miss and UNC with Larry Fedora, now at Arky State. He is one hell of a football coach. There are a few guys that are out of football and some that landed in other spots, Bustle included. I just knew Jenkins from his time here and knew him as a hard-worker, all I'm saying is that his track record speaks for itself.

I also work through the football program with Jenkins for a few years. he would share with me that a lot of decisions are some time above his head. Most position coaches feel the same way.

I love playing basketball with at the Rec Center on campus. He became like a father to me and many of my friends. the guy is a straight shooter. As I grew older in life I appreciate everything he shared with me and made me a better man.you have to have tough skin to tolerate Jenkins. guys may have hated him on the practice field, but those are the same guys that he would go to bat for if they were in need of help

It sounds like Jenkins is the kind of Coach you either Love or Hate. Apparently not much middle ground.

I don't see this as getting out of hand, you posted something positive about a former UL coach getting a head job. And typical of today's society someone gets on here and bashes something positive, such a negative world we live in.

Our head coach isn't the best X's and O's coach in the game. But being a head coach isn't always about that...it's about motivating, it's about delegating and letting coaches coach, and it's about finding the right players. I don't know Coach Rebowe personally, so I don't know how good of a coach he was as the secondary coach. I know that I wasn't too pleased with player progression under him while he was here as a fan. But I'll admit that I'm a fan and my opinion is worth about as much as the electrons this sentence is made out of. But I think he's going to be successful at Nicholls because I know he can do some of those other things. If anybody wasn't motivated by Jenkins, or felt like he wasn't a good coach, that's their opinion. Doesn't make him a bad coach. It's entirely possible that the player/coach relationship just wasn't a good one. Maybe he couldn't figure out the way to reach somebody as a player. That's the hardest part of being a teacher: adapting one set of information for 40 individuals who have completely different ways of learning and remembering. I'm not writing this in particular to defend Jenkins; DMS didn't care for him, that's fine. Maybe he wasn't a great position coach. But his record as a head coach speaks for itself, and I can assure ANYBODY that those kind of results are more than luck or being carried by people around him.

We will see Ron Hudson, former OLC and OC here, on the other sideline for Nevada.

Yeah, although I'm not sure the Arkansas State fans thought of him as a great coach after running all the unsuccessful fakes against the Cajuns.

-----I have to disagree with some about HUD's Xing and Oing----He has been around the block enough at age 45 to know a whole bunch--been to different places with different schemes----Collage QB---Asst at diff schools----Passing game coordinator at Miss St and now 4 years at UL---I think that the real factors are personnel on both sides of the ball and what style you want to run and the merger of the two---Don't forget that there is a very ongoing search between seasons with other staffs for the right fit and the acquiring of even more knowledge----Remember the story of the "BEAR" going to Royal for the Bone---I remember going to Tex A & M to meet with their staff -----Some you know, some you didn't know, and some you keep!!!
