They won the CUSA regular season title last year and are favored again this year. They were upset in the CUA tournament but did well in the NIT. Sports Illustrated picked them to go the NCAA tourney. WKU is in their league now so they do have another school with basketball tradtion to go against now.
No, the loss at McNeese was bad as the guys we did have available did not play to their potential. From what I understand, Coach Marlin was as disappointed in that effort as much as in any contest since he has been here. I was just giving credit to the Cowbos for outplaying us on Saturday and pointing out they do have some talent.
No doubt we have not been consistent and I attribute some of that to injury. We now have two non D1 games coming up which will give us an opportunity to continue to work out kinks. Next D1 game is at Northwestern State the night of the bowl game. I will pay particular attention to that one as we need to have some road success prior to conference play beginning at the end of the month.
LA Tech was 63-16 the last two seasons plus before tonight. They won 29 games last year and have four of their five starters back.
Make no mistake about it. We beat a VERY good club tonight.
Cry over the spilled milk in Lake Charles all you like. Cajun fans should be savoring this one.
BTW Tech is 37-1 over their last 38 home games. Guess who the loss was to?
It looked like a good win. It felt like a good win. One thing we should all be able to recognize, is that the Cajuns stepped up their level of play tonight. I see some still bringing up my "soft" comment about Shawn. I'm glad I could "motivate" him, but I stand by my statement. He had a strong game and was relentless at times, but after we started hitting shots and he started making the collapsing man pay, that's when he started domunating (a less than physical) inside presence for La Tech. He needs others to be affective from outside in order to get his game in a ryrhym. Having said that, he did go to work on the glass. One of his more memorable performances. Great win overall.
Just a word about tech fans that showed up at the dome: douchebags. Insufferable d bags, every single one of you sitting in 211 and 210. It was brutal listening to these bafoons.
Anyway.. GEAUX CAJUNS
-----C-Mike I missed the game tonight and it is killing me not seeing these guys---but great post as I can visualize your match ups---It is the same in all sports---MATCH UPS------A beats B---B beats C----C beats A----Add variables and luck to the equation and you have the results!!!
"Boomshakalaka _____es" that's as deep as the critique goes tonight
i'm just so freaking happy we didn't go down 0-2 to LATurd this year in men's sports !!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like my heart has been purged of that sinking, depression state I had ever since they beat us here !!!!
Ha. The dude in the aisle seat on 2nd row of 211 with a Tech colored cardigan... Every Tech basket he gave an obnoxious "in your face" type cheer directed toward cajun fans. That was the only dbag I really saw. (In fact, there were a couple of them I enjoyed watching.)
