When he clarifies that he was talking about 4 years, I agree with him. Very easy to see what he was saying as we've been a winning program just never strung together multiple years and that is not the case. Not by a long shot.
I apologize 81, I misunderstood your post. Doesn't change my feelings on the glass half empty crowd.
So I do not get it, did we overachieve with those 8-4 teams, and achieve about right with this 8-4 team.
Did our P5 loses look any worse or better in any of those years? Did not really expect to beat Boise, but did not expect to get keel-hulled either. Was pretty sure we would beat the Dawgs, but they got a QB in his 5th year who was much better than their guy last year.
Granted we suffered two major loses one on offense and one on defense early, but most teams lose important cogs.
Point is this team by any observable standard is about like the Bustle talent ladened teams, and come to think of it, we got some NFL players out of that talent.
Not 4 years. 10 years. We have been bowl eligible in 8 of the last 10 years. That is a 'winning program' by most people's measure. The Cajuns are 65-57 over the 10 year span, not stellar, but steady. We have been nowhere near 'the worst program in FBS' since about year 3 of the Bustle era, when Bustle had managed to heal some of the nearly mortal wounds that Baldwin gave the program.
Since 2004 we've had 5 seasons with an above .500 record and 4 of them were since Hud got here. That is not a clear cut case. .500 football does not constitute as winning. So the 6 other years, you had 1 winning season and that was a 6-5 season. We've been a winning football program for 4 years.
