Thread: Greetings from Nevada

Every time Ive seen Nevada play, which isn't much I admit. but they always seemed to field a highly coached efficient offensive team with a good mix of running game including their dual threat QBs & they always have a good tandem or star running backs & quality receivers with good speed. And they've never been afraid to throw it deep. As for as their defenses, traditionally they don't seem to have more than pretty good corners & maybe one pass rushing specialist you have to take care of to move the ball on them. Of course that's like five years ago. Could our guest form Nevada point out who we should be on the look out for individually, as wel as which units to be aware of? The information would be greatly appreciated & add a lot of excitement to the following of the contest.

I'm a Cajun first, but the Wolfpack will always have a place in my heart. Good luck to y'all! Either way, I'm going to be happy with the outcome.
No UNR, buddy. They have stated that they hate that as much as we hate UL-L

Nah, it's fine when referring to the University, but the sports teams are Nevada.

    Same with Louisiana.

Crazy side note, State law makes hyphens illegal when it comes to the school name.

You'll notice I was referring to the campus I attended as UNR. Considering the amount I spent on tuition and the time I spent in classes all across that campus, I believe I would know how to properly refer to the academic institution. If anyone, especially Wolfpack fans, have a problem with me referring to the academic institution located in Reno in the same manner that the locals do... well, we all know how impolite my implication can be from here...

In my experience, they locally (there) don't have an issue with UNR for the school, even the website is "unr.edu". We have a different perspective here because people tend to hate ULL regardless of it's usage. I believe they have an easier going perspective toward UNR for the school due to the fact they haven't had the amount of opposition that we face in the branding issue. I think, were it not for the amount of flack that this school catches from other in-state schools about the "Louisiana" branding, there wouldn't be any heartburn over the use of ULL in academic references.

Are you going to make the trip to New Orleans? I know it's kind of short notice, but I hope there's a good showing of Wolfpack fans. I'd like to see y'all receive the kind of Louisiana hospitality that i'm sure y'all missed out on from LA Tech, back in the WAC days.

My apologies, I didn't mean to pile on. I'm not sure how, but I never saw the reply from BattleReady before mine. If I had, I would've let it lie.

Was in Reno for football game at Nevada back when. Lost game and lost some $$ at casinos. Love Nevada (state and school). Spent cold days/nights in Independence Mts north of Elko starting up a gold mine back in 80s. Lots of game and lots of ice. During one visit got to see the Cajuns play Reno in Bball. That was fun. I think we won. I know I didn't at the Sportsman in Elko. And the Basque food was amazing in Elko. Good eating. Reno sure a lot bigger than Elko and Ely. And easier to fly in and out of too.
