Southern finished with the best record in the SWAC and is playing for a conference championship tomorrow. LaTech is playing for CUSA Championship tomorrow, Boise is playing for a MWC championship tomorrow, and Ole Miss is a top 25 team.

So yeah except for Ga Tech and Ole Miss being pretty even, the rest of the games are not even close.

I am pretty sure we played Troy. as did Ga Southern. In fact the only difference in quality if you call it that than stAte, and I am very confident they beat stAte. In any case 7-1 does not trump 8-0 especially when the 8-0 includes App State that dominated both us and stAte.

In the history of football there has always been champions based on not playing each other. In his heyday, the Bear would schedule more SEC games than anyone else and sometimes won based on percentage of wins vs loses.

Frankly this continued b*t^h session about who they did not play looks like spoiled grapes to anyone else not wearing vermilion sunglasses.

Turbines argument is that both newbies should have had the hardest schedule, and ignores what NMSU and Idaho both new to the conference should have played.

Here is the bottom line. The Cajuns finished in the middle of most game stats league wise. The Cajuns had the worst pass defense in the league and made every quarterback look like Brian Mitchell reborn. Brodway consistently could not connect on long passes letting teams crowd the line of scrimmage. Our tackles consistently let people get to Broadway very quickly, great run line not so much pass protection. It caught up to us vs App State who said Brodway YOU beat us with the pass.
I believe we both played NMSU. Here's the deal. You can't look at who beat who how. They struggled against NMSU (8pt win) and Texas State (3pt win) where we beat the dog crap out of both of those teams. GaSo finished 8-0. They win the conference. Still, they did not play a harder schedule.

And just because we looked ugly doing it, we still finished 7-1. You are taking your frustrations on what you think our team should be and letting them skew your thoughts on this. Arkansas State also may not be what you think they should, but they finished 4th in the conference. So GaSouthern didn't play the 2nd and 4th team in the conference while those teams had to play each other and both did not get the luxury of playing 1 (each) of the worst teams in college football.

I didn't mention any schools, just the long standing pattern that the SBC has demonstrated in both football and basketball that they cater to DII transfers.

But now that you mention it NMSU and Idaho were NOT moving up in classification, so making them play the previous champs fits the proven SBC pattern.

I think there is some weight to the idea that the top FCS schools (App st and GaSo included) are better than the worse FBS schools. A lot of those happen to be in the Sunbelt.

No doubt the SBC FCS move ups are better tha most C USA SCHOOLS period

Just throwing it out there... Southerns gimmick offense gives them a leg up, I would imagine the more times people see it, they will begin to figure out a way to stop it... There is a reasons only 3 teams do it and it's not because it's unstoppable

It works really well at this level. The way to stop that type of offense is win the individual battles up front and on the outside. The bigger schools will have the talent to do this and stop the offense. At the level we are at, they can spread the field and win the majority of those battles and create openings. The problem for them is that when they lose those matchups, they don't have a whole lot left to rely upon and I think that's why more don't do it. If I was a coach, I'd prefer to lean on balance and give myself more options to beat an opponent rather than rely on only one thing that my team does really well.

They don't really run the offense they used to..not like Georgia Tech anyways.

I think they got one hell of a coach. He was number one on "CajunJack's Hud Replacement Short List" when he was at Sam. He has since moved off the list

If you notice they were destroying people early, towards the end of the year txst and ulm both had them on the ropes. They are a good team and it's hard to prepare for, but I think the more you see it and watch film of your conference mates playing them, it won't be as dominate. You have to run it near perfection for it to work, when you do it's very hard to stop. It's hard to get kids to be perfect week in and week out.

It's a version of it but yes fritz is a good coach. I do believe they will take a slight step back in recruiting and in the next couple years.

That gimmick offense dominated the 70's, and 80's. The triple option in any form is one of the most successful offenses in the history of college football. It works, and because it is really hard to find a quality throwing quarterback over and over again every three or four seasons that tends to be hit and miss.

It worked when most teams were geared up to stop it, so to label it a gimmick that only works because people rarely play it is a bit demeaning.

I think the Cajuns would have eaten up Ga Southern, our defense was very good at destroying the running game.

I think the word gimmick was more or less used since its an offense run by very few. If it was that unstoppable and that efficient I would think more people would use it.
