This is a ridiculous thread! You say the league pampered the newbies, but each played different schedules! One played us and stAte, beating both, and the other didn't. Regardless, literally everyone said preseason that either would be lucky to win 4-5 games, TOTAL.
We had our chance and blew it!!! Nuff said!!

I would be ____ed if I was App state, they had to play the Cajuns and stAte, both on the road and somehow southern avoids is both all together.

And app won both. That says a lot about how good app finished this season. At the end of the season, I think they were playing the best football of anyone in the SBC .

I agree ... they aren't getting the credit they deserve ... and nobody is saying anything about them being bowl eligible (record wise).

They beat us at our own game.

They did, and in hindsight you can say that but nobody knew that when they made the schedule.

I understand your point but this Ga Southern team does not have any impact transfers. The biggest transfer is a back up QB from FIU. Hardly what you would call a big time transfer.

You are probably right, I do not know their team and could not name one player or where they came from. I have never been to their website even. I have to believe they have some players that could not get into larger universities because of their grades and are making an impact. Again I do not know but I think it will be harder to recruit for them going forward.

Actually, I think in the end, it's pretty similar

We played a God Awful NMSU vs their God awful Idaho. Ark State was not the stAte of earlier years with a idiot coach new qb, and a young line. IMO they are fortunate to finish fourth. I am pretty sure we played Troy. as did Ga Southern. In fact the only difference in quality if you call it that than stAte, and I am very confident they beat stAte. In any case 7-1 does not trump 8-0 especially when the 8-0 includes App State that dominated both us and stAte.

In the history of football there has always been champions based on not playing each other. In his heyday, the Bear would schedule more SEC games than anyone else and sometimes won based on percentage of wins vs loses.

Frankly this continued b*t^h session about who they did not play looks like spoiled grapes to anyone else not wearing vermilion sunglasses.

Turbines argument is that both newbies should have had the hardest schedule, and ignores what NMSU and Idaho both new to the conference should have played.

Here is the bottom line. The Cajuns finished in the middle of most game stats league wise. The Cajuns had the worst pass defense in the league and made every quarterback look like Brian Mitchell reborn. Brodway consistently could not connect on long passes letting teams crowd the line of scrimmage. Our tackles consistently let people get to Broadway very quickly, great run line not so much pass protection. It caught up to us vs App State who said Brodway YOU beat us with the pass.

Couldn't we say the same thing about UL? Not necessarily about not having the grades to get in but where would we be with Eli? If not for us being the only knowing he was graduating early, we probably don't land him.

I just don't buy into the idea of FCS programs being good due to transfers. The whole idea of recruiting is to make your team better whether that is with high school kids, JUCO or transfers. UL had been pretty damn successful in the transfer game and I'm not made about that.

I think a lot of people discount Ga Southerns team and its wrong. That system can neutralize talent. It's the same reason Navy, army and Air Force run similar systems. You can take less talented kids and win. Hell look at what georgia tech had been able to do with it in the ACC.

I ramble way to much haha

This is the point I don't think people are looking at enough. We just weren't good enough to win the league. Ga Southern played a soft schedule and so did we. I would have loved to play them but let's move on.

Yes. I would have loved to have seen them go play Ga Southern at the end of the year as I think that game could have been different. App State had a hell of a run at the end of the season and most of it was on the road.
